Title: OT - extraFest-ricular activities?
Post by: retzev on March 05, 2006, 02:59:30 AM
I've passed through New York City more than a few times, but never had the chance to really visit. I hope to go to CBGB while I'm there...

Is that still there? I thought they closed.

They almost lost their lease renewal, but got things back on track, or so I've heard...

The original location has to be vacated by October of this year. The city was supposed to help them find a new location, but what they offered wasn't satisfactory. There's actually a current news article online about it:

That was a great place to visit.  I loved going down there though the area might make someone new to New York a little nervous.  Well, even some New Yorkers would get nervous . .

What a drag... :(...I wonder if they'll keep it running until then? I sure do hope so...

While that club is no doubt rich in great Rock & Roll history, NYC will always have great clubs no matter what name or location they are at. I'd like to recommend a visit to the Times Square Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum  [Candle] if you haven't been there.
