Janet, you crack me up.

Sheriff to Roger:  "If we picked him up now on what we've got, he'd be back on the street in an hour--take my word for it."
Hmm, even when what they've got are means (the wrench), motive (Burke vowed revenge in front of witnesses) and opportunity (he was was alone with the car), and probably judges elected or appointed by the Collins family?

A first look at the photo of LBJ on the wall of the station, and very soon, a certain wedding announcement.

Our first-ever DS fight scene--between a nine-year-old boy and his governess/tutor.

If Burke had broken up this fight too, whom would he have threatened to paddle-- the little boy or the governess?

Current Talk '11 II / Re: Depp/Burton DARK SHADOWS Spoilers
« on: July 31, 2011, 01:59:26 AM »
Indeed, the spoilers have gone viral.

I said we'd look into the issue and feel I've learned as much as I can.  But first, to be clear, it was never my intent to investigate the veracity of the spoilers and I never attempted to prove or disprove them.  My concern was that a claim made by neiljohnson (that he copied the spoilers verbatim from a soap board) had created tensions here and based on my experience on this board in all its incarnations, the situation seemed close to becoming a flame war; therefore, I hoped to be able to verify (only) that the spoilers were copied from an online public board.  I didn't even plan to cite the url in this thread, but just wanted to help ease the tensions; MB and I have steadfastly maintained that we do not police outside links.

There IS a post, submitted anonymously on a soap board, that predates this thread by 4 - 5 days, but the IP in the post is displayed and is identical to neiljohnson's.  Since I lack any evidence to show that he copied the spoilers from another site, unfortunately I'm unable to believe the claim.  But for sure I didn't think for a second that he's a troll or fabricated the spoilers, and I'm aware of his numerous contributions to other posting boards.  I feel only he can say for sure where he got them, and he was given every opportunity to show that he had been truthful and was informed that his account could otherwise be compromised (as a condition of registration, posters are required to agree to the Forum Guidelines, and therefore agree to not post information that is false or inaccurate), but it was his decision to not cooperate with the site administrators.  A warning was issued, but it was not because of any anti-spoiler sentiment.  The spoilers are not going to be removed and spoilers posted down the line won't be discouraged.

Regarding the tensions created by those past and future spoilers, I understand that many of us are emotionally invested in the DS movie, but please, that's no reason to let those emotions get the best of us.

LOL for Carolyn's line!

Welcome to Timothy Gordon!!!, appearing as the restaurant customer who chats with Maggie at the counter and uses the hotel stairs.  Gordon had some memorable uncredited parts in his nearly 30 DS appearances-- besides also showing up in the Blue Whale, it's his hand that we see in #210, and he was the menacing hand of Petofi and (again) Barnabas, a spectator at a certain hanging, a 1795 family servant, the wedding minister in a particularly nasty dream, and
Jeremiah's ghost.
TG attended some of the earlier Fests.

Since the lobby set was used for this ep, the phone booth has returned to its proper place.  And there's now a number on the door to Burke's suite, but is it #24?

Oh, you Constable Carter fans are all probably just impressed with the dignity of the badge.  Snort.

Roger:  "I can't think of anyone else who would want to harm me."
Seriously?  Roger in these eps is such a nasty piece of work that I bet his haters could form a line that winds down the hill and all the way to the cannery.

Liz's hairdo is... bizarre.

Apparently Sam gets all his diet in liquid form.  Coffee Royale and make it strong and I don't mean the coffee.

LOL  Maybe that morning sunrise he wanted to check out was a tequila sunrise?  You know, the delicate play of light and shadow on the grenadine and o.j.?  [ghost_tongue2]

So true, Janet.

Farewell, Mark Allen [ghost_sad] and welcome Susie the Mute Waitress (name by Luciaphile) #1, aka the blonde Susie as played by Colleen Kelly.  The phone booth in the Inn has been transported from the lobby into the restaurant.

We learn that the reason Maggie's coffee is better at home is because she cooks it.  And that Carolyn's function is to make dates with boyfriends.

Again with the 10-years-ago-I-was-a-kid!

Sam to Maggie:  "When a man comes to pry, you don't unlock all the cupboards."
And why are your cupboards locked, hmm?

Burke to Sam:  "I want a nice good one to go over a mantlepiece, you know the one I mean. ... As a matter of fact, you've been up to the Collin house, haven't you? ... What I want is something about the same size as the portraits they have in the drawing room. I want to be able to fit it in, right there."
Run, Sam, run!!!

Carolyn laments she made the accident possible, and Roger believes that Burke has been tormenting him for 10 years.  Would you like some coffee with that guilt?

Thanks, loril54!

It seems to me that what happens more than once (though I can't cite episode numbers for you) is that somebody drives into town from Collinwood and gets a lift back from somebody else, leaving the original car stranded.

Do you mean up to this point?, cuz this is how I'd track the trips back and forth so far:

#1 - Vicki rode in Burke's limo to the Inn and took a cab to Collinwood
#2 - Joe and Carolyn are at the Blue Whale together and he drives her home
#3 - Roger drove into town, Joe drives back to the bar alone, and Malloy is in town
#4 - Roger has driven back home
#5 - Sam is on the Collinwood grounds
#6 - Sam is back home, Carolyn tells Vicki about the bus into town
#7 - Roger and Vicki got into town separately
#8 - Joe drives to Collinwood, Vicki returns with Carolyn's keys
#9 - Malloy leaves town and heads to Collinwood, and Carolyn asks to ride along with him on his trip back to town
#10 - Burke drives Carolyn home
#12 - Roger is back home
#13 - Burke leaves Collinwood alone
#14 - Burke and Joe are in the Blue Whale, Joe heads to Collinwood to pick Carolyn up and they end up at the Blue Whale
#15 - Roger crashes on the way to town
#16 - Bill and Roger are at the M.D.'s office, Joe leaves the bar and Burke follows after him with Carolyn in tow
#17 - Bill drives to the crash site and then back to the office to bring Roger home, Bill drives back to town
#18 - Roger and Vicki leave for town together
#19 - Malloy checks around town for Carolyn, Joe brings her home
#20 - Roger pulls up at the Inn with Vicki, and they return to Collinwood together
