Nope! That's what's so unbelievable. I mentioned in another post that you would think they could have had a minute scene in which he refuses to stay and perhaps Stokes gives him some money, or at least some food, and wishes him well.
Or, as you mentioned, someone could have at least stated something to that effect. But, that's it, he's just gone!!!
