The All-Too-Tragic Curiosity Of Mr. Wells

Hey gang,

That was awful to see how good old Mr. Wells met his Maker today.  The blood gushing from his eye was, perhaps, one of the most graphic death sequences ever seen on Dark Shadows.  However, those blue and red streaks on his face reminded me of magic marker streaks on his kisser.  (They also reminded me of the Crayola Crayons that we all undoubtedly used as kids in grade school.)

Mr. Wells' death left an indelible impression on me when I first saw this gruesome episode back in 1968 as a young kid.  You know, I almost wish the scene could have played out like this:

The sound of deep moans, chains rattling and furniture being tossed about the room emanate from the Collinsport Inn attic storeroom.  Mr. Wells cautiously approaches the door to the room.

"Mr. Jennings, are you alright in there?"

"What?  Oh yeah, I'm okay"

"Is there anything that I can get you, Mr. Jennings?"

"Yeah, Mr. Wells.  You can get me some whipped cream, some maraschino cherries and a bottle of Mazola oil."

"Is there anything else I can get you Mr. Jennings?"

"Well, if isn't too much trouble, could you get me a videotape of 'Nine And A Half Weeks'?"

"Sure thing, Mr. Jennings.  I'll be right back in a jiffy!"

Yes, This was the one scene I'll never forget. Over the years (before DS reruns began) whenever I thought of the show, this is the scene I remember most vividly. As a kid, werewolves always freaked me out. I should have known this is one character that Danny boy wouldn't miss!! The whole storyline gave me the chills (still does).

Yes, This was the one scene I'll never forget.

I will have to get out the MPI tape, missed it today. I was at the eye doctor's, am going to get Lasik vision correction surgery done soon. No more glasses or contact lenses! My daughter will love seeing that episode again. It's one of the best with the Werewolf.

Hey, that sounds GREAT! Doesn't it seem odd that they would have Mr. Wells dripping with blood and then NONE from Adam's gunshot wound today (in spite of Prof. Stokes' pantomime of wiping it off his hand)?

I thought the scene where they showed Mr. Wells after playing with lil doggie Chris was pretty good. I feel sorry for Arnold and Willis though *sigh* LOL

If I was a Detective of the Collinsport Police Department, I would get the person who murdered Mr. Wells (the innkepper) and put that person to justice...

And Sheriff George Patterson couldn't find his ass with both hands, a mirror and a road map...
