Something peculiar about the still of Carlotta in Reply #524 is that there appears to be a pink flower petal near the waistline of Carlotta's dress. And it doesn't just appear in the copy of the still that I have but also in the copy that's in the DS Movie Book. And the reason why I say it's peculiar is because in the copy that Stuart Manning shared on his old Web site, the pink flower petal doesn't appear:
Who knows?
This line is not quoted in the current version of the slideshow, but it did appear in the original version -
NoDS: Scene #153 - Tracy: 'Yes, I know.'
- because it was the quote for November 10th on the Fest 1999 Movie Calendar.
And interestingly enough, this still of Carlotta -
(Click here for a 700X1028 version)
- is most closest connected to Scene 153 by how Carlotta can hardly cover her glee that Quentin is painting in the tower again and Tracy doesn't know where Quentin is...
And a cropped version of that still appears on page 179 of the DS Movie Book, and a cropped to just a head shot version appears on the back cover of the movies soundtrack case...
Garth, holding his chain in both hands, enters Evan's house--I've come for the prisoner! He declares. Who are you, and what do you mean by barging into my house? demands Evan. Garth comes closer and says, I am THE LAW--tell me where the prisoner is! You're a madman, accuses Evan--get out! He was seen entering this house, says Blackwood--the penalty for harboring criminals is severe--justice must be served--he who obstructs justice will suffer--I will search until I find the criminal. You will not search this house, says Evan firmly--you're here illegally and I'm calling the police! I have one and only one warning for you, sir, says Blackwood--stand aside!Evan refuses. Garth wraps his chain around the lawyer's throat and throttles him unconscious.
Continuing Scene 153, with Tracy's response to Carlotta questioning whether or not she knows Quentin is working in the tower:
TRACY
Yes, I know.
And that's when today's first quote -Page 72/Scene 153 - Carlotta: 'Is something wrong, Mrs. Collins?'
- comes up, followed by today's second quote -Page 72/Scene 153 - Tracy: 'Yes, something is wrong, Carlotta.'
- coming up.
And so far as differences with the dialogue go, Tracy actually delivers her quoted line as "Yes, Carlotta, something is wrong."
And so far as the differences with the descriptions and the directions go, there aren't any in this section of the scene so there's nothing to be different - though Tracy does move up in her chair and she leans forward to help emphasize the point when she says that something is wrong. And beyond that I also have a few other observations because 1) I love how Tracy nervously -
- plays with her hands before she answers that she knows Quentin is back to painting in the tower - and 2) I also love how Carlotta smiles down and continues to handle one of the dying flowers lovingly because -
- it's a fascinating gesture given that the flowers are, well, dying and are no longer fresh (so given that she specifically wrote in her script about it, what might Grayson have thought the gesture signifies in Carlotta's mind?) - and 3) I also love how Carlotta first tilts her head to the right -
- and then to the left -
- as she asks Tracy if anything is wrong.

Yesterday I forgot to share the full music cue that should play and likely does play over Scene 150 and into the opening of Scene 153 in the 129 minute version. On the Movie Soundtracks CD it's entitled "Quentin's Daydreaming (Quentin's Theme)," no doubt because it first comes up in the film during Scenes 33 through 38 while he muses, has a vision, and recovers. So, here it is to help get a better idea of how Scene 150 plays in the 129 minute version and how the music cue transitions to Scene 153:
...
And here's another example of a music cue that rightfully doesn't play as part of a scene on the VHS but does in every other release of the film. We've already dealt with two such cues: one at the end of Scene 103 when Scene 104 was cut in the 94 and 97 minute versions of the film but does appear in the 129 minute version, and another at the opening of Scene 117 when Scene 116 was cut in the 94 and 97 minute versions of the film but does appear in the 129 minute version. And this time around we're dealing with the opening of Scene 153:
Here we have the Laser version:
And here we have the Blu-ray to represent every other version:
The cue heard on the Blu-ray and others other than the VHS/Laser is obviously a segue from the end of Scene 150 (which only appears in the 129 minute version of the film - all other versions go from Scene 149 to Scene 153, as can be seen in the Laser and Blu-ray clips) -
