I'm going by my general impressions and memory from my viewing last time, and I don't completely recall the illogical aspects referred to by Luciaphil, though the atmosphere she describes may have been intentional...
Well, there's what's illogical to the characters and then what is illogical to the viewer--if I'm reading Luciaphil correctly--and that can make a big difference when you're watching it.

As for the residents of Collinwood forgetting Ghost Quentin, I remember the episode where "Grant Douglas" shows up and is talking to Roger in the drawing room; Amy comes in with a wicked little grin, having just cranked up the victrola playing "Quentin's Theme", to see if she could get a rise out of Quentin--which, come to think of it, was a pretty stupid thing for her to do, especially if she believed Quentin was, in fact, still a ghost.  ::)

What I find totally exasperating is that fact that Barnabas goes on about the clues and the impending doom at Collinwood, yet he is hardly ever there to help out; instead, he spends his evening hours brooding over Roxanne Dru.

It really aggravates me as well when past events and the lessons learned never come into play for characters. David, for example, had a ghost for a best friend and was Ghost Quentin's prime target for most of his revenge plot. Yet David acts as though he's never had any experiences with ghosts.

Maggie is attacked by a vampire and displays the same kind of behavior from when she was under Barnabas' thrall, and the connection never occurs to her, or anyone, besides Julia.

Same with Elizabeth, who left her house when it was possessed by Ghost Quentin, but you'd think all that bad craziness never ever happened...

Heck, if I was Maggie I'd welcome the attentions of the vampire if it would get me out of having to deal with her.  No wonder Roger is away somewhere.
Roger evidently saw the writing on the wall: he was being squeezed out in favor of Quentin...

Go back and take a look at 1897.  Edward is belittleing(sp) Quentin, well, he thinks he is, anyway, Edward mentions Opium as he reads off Quentin memu of 'things you should not do'
Can you imagine what Edward's list of no-no for Quentin would look like?

1) No opium

2) No running off to Egypt with my wife

3) No hanky-panky with the hired help

4) No summoning the devil

5) No plotting the murder of family members (yes, we know all about Grandmother!)

Of course, Quentin wouldn't have been nearly as fun to watch had he adhered to that list... >:D

I remember boys in grammar school wearing that stuff.
Those clothes look like something that could have gotten you beat up over by the monkey bars! Even back then!  ^-^

Current Talk '03 II / David Henesy, Former Child Star
« on: September 05, 2003, 08:07:47 PM »
David Henesy's opening narration in Thursday's episodes were like his coming-of-age event--something only the adult actors heretofore had done.

In this week's episodes, when David's hair is all shaggy and he's wearing that striped pullover, he reminded me of David Spade in all those commercials for Dickie Roberts, Former Child Star...

Speaking of wardrobe, here's a question: yes, I know that this is 1970, but was it ever cool for a guy to cinch a sweater with a belt?!

 :-  >:D ^-^

It's interesting that while she seems to trust Sebastian, when he tells her NOT to go to the room (and all her trusted friends echo that), she does - but that's what finally convinces her and she is FINALLY ready to remove the children - but it's too late!!
DS has a history of changing the motivations and moods of characters on a dime.

And when characters are under the control of a ghost or a cult and their entire personality changes (Quentin/Daphne, Julia/Gerard, Barnabas/Leviathans) and they turn on one another, the others just stand around politely, wondering what the problem is.

For instance, in the current storyline, I'd like to see Julia slap Quentin hard across the cheek and yell, "Snap out of it!"

With everyone aghast at the thought of Carolyn ending up with Ned Stuart, am I alone in my horror  here?  Quentin with Maggie?  [82b5]
I usually have no interest in who-couples-with-whom, but I like the idea of Maggie & Quentin together. To me, Selby & KLS always had spark--even in the most trying of PT episodes.

Quentin needs a woman like Mags: she's honest, upright--and not a ghost or evil. And I think that's just what ol' QC needs...

 ;D

Well, if it's not Stargate, the godawful Scare Tactics or one of those horrible mini-series they push down our throats twice a year, I don't think Sci-Fi much cares what's on their channel the rest of the time.  :P :-X

I just hope they don't try to correct this snafu by skipping an episode to catch up with their schedule.

I been watching David lately, and it seems there is a pattern here....all he's ever watched is drunks....except Barnabas.

Naomi Collins...Drinks for the love of drinking....that and because her husband is a jerk.
Well, technically, David never knew Naomi.  ;)

As for Barnabas, it would seem as though he might have addictions far more harmful than booze...

But the supernatural-events-are-not-possible speeches are most aggravating when they are spouted by Barnabas, Julia, & Quentin.

Now that's sloppy writing!

 >:(

And not only that but the poor woman had to sleep in those clothes (and in a chair no less!) while she was guarding Barnabas during the day in 1995!
Actually, the good Dr. Hoffman was too busy yakety-yakking to the only redneck sheriff in all of Maine as to what Barnabas really is... ;D ;)

Julia, that little possessed devil... >:D

I don't know...

He just reminds me of goofy-ass so-called comic actor Jack Black--which would truly terrify me if HE were haunting my house!!
