Looking for a good Quentin Quote
« on: June 30, 2010, 12:30:26 AM »
I am looking for a good quote by Quentin [gramophone]  Something about the family would be great.  Doesn't really matter WHICH Quentin...If you've got a "family" quote by ANY Quentin, that's just great.

I've got the "looking at the moon,"  the "big, bad wolf,"  "if we could only find a way of telling the truth..." but none of them are quite what I had in mind.  The last really great family quote I found was Gabriel  "It's the luck of the Collins Family.  We seem to attract every oddity on earth."  I know at least ONE of the Quentins MUST have commented on his family at one time or another.  Can anybody help?

Thanks!  [9366]
**For the record...just in case you're wondering how it all turns out---Angelique wins.  [9366]

I remember Quentin making remarks about the family, unfortunately all of a stingingly sarcastic bent, in such episodes as Judith's reading of Grandmamamama's will, the episode in which Quentin finds out about Jenny, and one of the early episodes involving Laura's return and Edward's attempt to take the moral high ground.

It's not a Quentin quote, but I think my all time favorite line about the family is Carolyn in an early 1970 episode proclaiming "'Hypocrisy above all' is the Collins family motto."  Kitten SPEAKS it!

I love the one about floating fluid but can't think of it! It's from 1897!  :) He is talking to Judith at the time!

Indeed. I think all of Quentin's best quotes are from 1895. Somewhere around episode 700 or 703 Judith is reading the will and at some point Quentin says, "I think I'm going to cry!"

But my all time fave (again from 1895), is when Quentin comes home and informs Edward that he has been enjoying the "dubious pleasures of the village".

So that's the time period to watch, IMHO, if you want a wicked Quentin quotation.
I get a kick out of these guys who think they're so clean, when all the time they're trying to cover up their dirt.

there was that great one he told Judith while she was in his room...God, it was so nasty.....something about spinterhood.

that one smacked of hatred.

too bad i can't remember the whole quote.  what was actually sad about that was that Judith was actually being nice and concerned about Quentin
wait...wait....coming to me.....something about not wanting to hear her or her  Old Maid Platitudes....

For what it's worth, here's a list of the quotes from the Fest's 1990 Calendar of Quotes - the quotes that are showcased in the slideshow atop the current Current Talk board. Though there probably isn't much here that you'll find useful. (I never actually realized how lame some of the quotes they picked for the various Quentins really are!  [ghost_sad]):

1970: Ep #932 - 'Grant': 'Two Tates for one.' - 01/20

1897: Ep #703 - Quentin: 'There is no English branch of our family.' - 03/05

1897: Ep #710 - Quentin: 'Barnabas Cousin.' - 03/14

1970PT: Ep #986 - Quentin: 'Stop that screaming and come down here!' - 04/06

1970PT: Ep #1008 - Quentin: 'Barnabas Collins! Come to us!' - 05/06

1897: Ep #755 - Quentin: 'I'm going to kill Magda!' - 05/16

1897: Ep #767 - Quentin: 'I'm getting more confused.' - 06/03

1897: Ep #786 - Quentin: 'The wheel of fortune spins.' - 06/30

1970PT: Ep #1056 - Quentin: 'I was tormented by a guilt feeling about her death.' - 07/13

1897: Ep #830 - Quentin: 'Perhaps you can slip some arsenic into her tea.' - 08/29

1897: Ep #845 - Quentin: 'I've had too much to drink.' - 09/19

1897: Ep #875 - Quentin: 'It worked - I'm myself again.' - 10/31

Angelique Wins, you might want to take a look at episode 709.  I can't remember Quentin saying anything about the family in general, but it's the episode in which Quentin says that Judith was a scaredy-cat as a child.

Some of these are quite funny!  [ghost_cheesy] I remember there was a bunch of episodes together where the dialogue was pretty snappy. Forget which period that was in. Does anyone recall any of the other funny/humorous/poignant lines other characters said? Off the top of my head I can't think of any, but I've only seen all the episodes through once.
