(Who's Getting The Glasses To Toast Midnite's 400th, And They're The Real Kind, Not The Plastic Ones With The Slip-On Bottoms)

Whotta guy!  I bet you can open a bottle of champagne as smoothly as Roger Collins can uncork a bottle of fine wine.

Okay, Midnite - your post is set now at 399; just one away from 400.  But ya make it legit - no fluffing!  And then we'll pop the champagne corks!

Champagne???!!!  Ya know, Gerard, you seem to have a knack for choosing the perfect alcoholic beverage to entice your fellow posters, hee hee!!  I didn't blink when you were bribing, er, offering Skyy blue martinis to Mark (that is, until you talked about making them very dry...), yet I LOVE champagne.  But since it's 9:30 a.m. here could we make it mimosas? :D

BTW, one of our cousins is close to senior status.  I'm not naming names, but I think that'll definitely be a champagne-worthy event!

DSWayne, you're very welcome!  I think you're a sweetheart and can't imagine you hurting anyone's feelings.

We were tickled to have Brian on board (pardon the pun) as our archivist.  And Luciaphil and Robin, since they have their own boards, also have special titles (Collinsport Commentator and Robservationist).  There will very likely be other positions available in the near future, so if you see something you're interested in, please don't hesitate to email our Webmaster extraordinaire.  MB and I welcome any and all help offered cuz while I hate to use the word "desperate", well, if the shoe fits...  ;)

And ideas/suggestions/comments are also always welcome!

BTW.,.... what are the "stars" that are just below each of our names? What do they represent or how do you get them?

The number of stars coincides with the member's status:

1 star - Forum Newbie
2 stars - Junior Member
3 stars - Full Member
4 stars - Senior Member
5 stars - Forum God

All new members start with one star, and there's a preset number of posts that are needed to reach the next level.

I learned just recently that some forums include a rule in their guidelines regarding posts made solely for the purpose of making the next level, which is called "fluffing".  I guess there's an internet term for everything, huh?

Sounds marvelous, Stuart!  And I loved reading that you handed him a fanged picture to sign.  Count me among the fans of his Barnabas portrayal, except for the snarly thing they kept making him do, poor guy.

One auction item from a Fest that I would've loved to acquire was his onyx ring from the series.  But unfortunately hubby never would've understood why it was worth $2,000. ;)

jennifer,

That site in the link in my post is no longer there, but Bob still has the 2 bunny smilies stored in the same place on his webspace.  To get the smiley in his post, you'd type this

I sent in my registration a while ago, and I haven't received anything, nor has my check been cashed.  I'm wondering if this is the same for everyone else, or if my registration was lost in the mail.

CN, please send an email to pansyfaye@darkshadowsfestival.com along with your name.  Pansy will let you know if your registration was received.  She's expecting to hear from you. :)

I'm disappointed you won't be here for the Fest.  You're missing a heck of a heat wave, btw, but I hope things are looking up for you!

Still keeping count!

You could've just removed yourself but instead returned to take a couple more shots.  You're no longer a member and you're no longer welcome on dsboards.

Hooked,

You requested, in a post that is no longer on this board, to be removed from the forums immediately.  You're obviously very angry, but if this is what you want then your registration can be removed by going into your profile and clicking on the "delete user" button.  I'm not kicking you off the board and I'm not banning you, but your membership is yours to do with as you wish.  Sorry things didn't work out for you here, but you apparently insist on criticizing other posters and now me too for doing my job.  I'll explain, briefly, that if an exchange occurs on the board that has the potential to turn into a flame war, then I either have to pull it or I have to publicly intervene; if you wanted your exchange with Vlad to remain private then you shouldn't have brought your disagreement onto these boards in the first place.  I wish you all the best.

I dont appreciate Vlad scorning me for responding to his post (was there bad acting on DS). Nothing was said by me to recieve crap from this person.

First of all, thank you for taking this off the main discussion board.  That having been said, I have to warn you that you're most likely not going to like what I have to say here.

Vlad was reacting to these posts:

OK you guys try to remain calm here!  Some people like LIVER too, but what about it!  If we search the internet we can come up with a site for people who chat about liver and its virtues too...but I still say a nice hunk of my mothers lasagne thrown in a bowl looks and tastes a lot better than LIVER.  What I meant by why do we analyze it (and did not get a definitive response too) is what is the pont?  To make some negative determination that there was indeed bad acting on DS?  I am not in disagreement with that statement I just dont see the point.  We are here for a good time right? The show is over and done with and it has shaped and influenced our lives enough to come here so lets enjoy ourselves while we can.  The show rules and I want to leave the trekkies on their site where they belong. Remember now...RELAX

The show had bad acting many times even by the actors that most would call the GOOD ones.  That  fact can not be disputed in any acting class anywhere.  We do not need a post to find this out.  It is a fact that is well known.  I just was wondering where this point was being taken.  When it is stated as a fact (which it is) then some conclusion must be made to bring  a closure for the idea.  Now that there is general concensus that there was bad acting on DS what can we do?  Did I mention that there was some bad acting on DS?  Let me put it another way..the acting on DS was (a lot of times) BAD!!  My opinion is that the acting on DS was bad.  Hmmmph!!

Is it your contention that the last message, especially, wasn't sarcastic or condescending?, because that's my take on it.  And since I chose to not remove or edit #32 (though I considered it), I not only think Vlad had the right to respond to it but I also appreciated his restraint.

Quote
If you can post a subject...then you can expect people to disagree with it.  I was only contributing to the post my own opinion and there is nothing wrong with that.

But were you giving your opinion on the subject matter, or were you giving your opinion on whether or not it was valid to carry on the discussion in the first place?  It seems to me you were passing judgment on the posters that were contributing to the topic and you were demanding to know why it was being talked about in the first place, and though posters took the time to explain it to you, you kept calling for an answer ("Unfortunately you are unable to give a definitive answer as to what your point is...").  You may not have seen any point to the debate about acting on the show, but I enjoyed it, and I was disappointed that you would sarcastically call it "your great debate" to the poster that started the topic.

Hooked, I know you're a huge fan of the show, and I respect that, but please understand that along with the praise for the show on these forums will come criticism about it, and I agree with Vlad that there's no need for you to jump in and tell everyone to relax and enjoy the show because, personally speaking, I wouldn't be here if I didn't find talking about the show to be relaxing and fun.

Well I am not here to win you over Vlad so I too am sorry that you must be so condescending in your response to my post to your great debate. Unfortunately you are unable to give a definitive answer as to what your point is...Still. I dont see what the big deal is..give an answer and you will have closure for a question.  Its that simple.

Well, I'm ending this exchange now, though I do intend to respond to your query on the Testing board.  As to your point about no one answering your questions, hooked, I actually think that everyone that has replied to you here has gone out of their way to answer as best they can and I can't imagine that further explanations can be offered to you that wouldn't be a rehash of what's already been said.

I'm not locking this topic at this point because others may want to add their opinions about the acting and directing on the show.  However, ANY further comments from ANYONE for or against the issue of whether this is a valid discussion topic will be removed.  As is stated in the guidelines, "The purpose of these forums is to discuss DARK SHADOWS, its characters, actors and storylines."  Since the quality of the acting on the show is obviously something that other posters have found interesting enough to want to share their views on it, it's not your place to question the validity of the discussion, to demand closure, or to declare the debate pointless.  I'm the only person here that is required to read each and every post on this board, so please consider moving off of threads in the future if you don't like the subject matter.  And in this particular case, I have two suggestions to offer you:  either you can reread the replies given to your messages because I don't understand why you continue to insist that you're not getting any "definitive answer", or you can stop reading this topic entirely as it obviously is not to your liking.

In addition, the quote above is missing its last line because I removed it.  Ridiculing another poster is never acceptable.
