I loved it when Julia told Barnabas to stop threating her all the time! I got the impresson that she was treating him like a spoiled kid!

I agree that this was probably the point in the story when the writers were trying to decide whether or not to keep Barnabas.
Adam did love Barnabas at first, which - if I remember correctly - was what made it so traumatic for Adam when Barnabas disciplined him so harshly.
