How does everyone feel about casting a younger Sid Ceasar as Barnabas and Flip Wilson as Julia?

Do I hear a "No"?????

Nancy

OMG!!!! ROTFLOL!!!
I can just hear Flip/Julia saying the Debil made me do it!

I in no way meant to knock Jonathan Frid when I said
maybe he would have worked harder to avoid the
bloopers. I realize he and the rest of the cast worked
under tough conditions. I think they did an extraordionary job ;)
Most of the time I barely notice the bloopers.

Blair ::)

I thought it was a hoot too. D. Curtis obviously not getting that maybe some actors would rather not work again than do yet another lousy movie with the same director/producer.  Evidently, Curtis didn't care about the crappy stuff he did.  Others do care about what they do.  Too  bad because Curtis had some great ideas.

When I read the article, it brought to mind what I've read about how Dan Curtis reacted when KLS quit DS. What was it he was quoted as saying? You'll never work in this business again. It seems like his standard
reply when someone turns him down.

In another thread we have been discussing actors
for a new DS. I think the best ones came up with
were:
Rupert Evertte for Barnabas
Hugh Jackman for Burke/Jermiah
Kevin Spacey for Willie

P.S. I agree with you Julia99, Glenn Close would do a
great job as Julia and I bet with hair and make up
she could even get her look  ;)

That would probably be during the episode where Gomer surprises Barnabas by installing a lock on his coffin that can be controlled from the inside, so that Barnabas could feel completely safe during the day.  Later, Barney arrives home at daybreak to find that Gomer had accidentally locked himself inside the coffin and still cannot get out.

Ben

What a hoot Ben!  :D

Hugh Jackman would make a great Jermiah!
And I agree with Raineypark about Kevin Spacey  ;)
How about Oliver Platt as Prof. Stokes?

Midnite,
Thanks for sharing the links  :D
I thought it was a total crack up when I read what
Dan Curtis had to say about J. Frid turning down the
role of Barnabas in the second DS movie.

I tried to think back to when I was watching DS for
the first time after I read your question. I think
that Barnabas was the scariest character for me.
When Willie opened the coffin and Barnabas' hand
reach out and grabbed his throat! JK sure played that
to the hilt ;D

.  I think we decided on a 1968/1795 story.  My friend had the brilliant idea of casting Rupert Everett as Barnabas.

Scout,
I agree 100% that Rupert Everett would make an
excellant Barnabas! Great choice  8)

I never wore stockings. By the time my parents finally
allowed me to wear anything but knee socks panty
hose were it. I still slip and say Jr. High too :)
(I always wanted those lacy ones every was wearing
in the late 60's and early 70's!)

Thank for sharing J.F.'s interview with us Midnite :)
From this and other interviews I think we see that
J. Frid most of the time through the years
thought of DS as just a job he had done, maybe
something he didn't care for too much. In some other
interviews he speaks of it in a different matter, as if
he had fond memories.
To me this is understandable.
To begin with I bet he nor anyone else ever expected
DS to be seen again. Maybe if he did, he would have
worked harder to avoid those bloopers that obviously
made him cringe later.
I would also say he has a love/hate relationship with
DS. It made him a star, but then afterwards he didn't
get to go on to even bigger stardom. As he said though
this could have been laid at the door of bad management of his career. Who knows what would
of happened if he had a better agent?

I think Gomer and Goober would make great friends for Willie.

Yes :) They would! Can't you see Gomer giving Barnabas
a "talking to" for beating Willie! LOL!

Desmond and Leticia
Melanie and Kendrick
Joe and Maggie
Quentin and Beth
Barnabas and Josette

It may seem unusual, but one of my favorite couples has long been Magda and Sandor.

I agree with ProfStokes :)
