Two excellent questions, Magnus and Uncle Roger!!  [laughing1]  [thumbleft]  I have no answers for the first, but at least when it comes to the second it was common practice in wealthy families, at least those in RT, for all the generations to live in the family mansion, especially is some members could have their own wings. Apparently, it must be the same in PT...

It seems to be a television tradition among wealthy families. Bobby and JR Ewing were still living at Southfork when they were well past thirty. And the only way that any of the Cartwright boys left the Ponderosa was when an actor left the series.
