Festival Program Cover
« on: September 08, 2003, 06:31:14 PM »
A friend just described the DS Festival program cover; he said it featured a photo from the session with Grayson, Jonathan and Alex Stevens in wolf makeup that he had never seen before.

Can anyone confirm to me whether this was a new shot, or just the one we've all seen before?

And, if it is a new shot, can anyone post it here for those of us who did not attend?

G.

It's not a new shot, Steve. It's the pic of Jonathan and the werewolf standing on either side of Grayson, each with an arm around her. I've seen it before so I'm sure you know which one I mean.

I haven't (then again, I've seen very little memorabilia).

If anyone has it, could you please post it?

Thanks,

Patti

Here it is!

That version is definitely different than the one I remember. (Thanks for posting it, Gerard. :))

Later today I'll have to see if I can dig up the other version. (I'm pretty sure it's been reprinted in one of the PomPress books - perhaps the Companion, if someone has that handy - but I think I have a copy that shows more...)

This version is new to me, as well.

The version that has become well known due to its use in many of the MPI catalogues has had the actors cut out and pasted over a neutral backdrop.

I think I first saw that photograph in one of the teen mags back in the day, but can't recall that they were standing in front of the Lugosi poster (I just love it that they had that in the rehearsal room!).

I thought that's when I'd first seen it too, but I couldn't find in my stuff from back then. :-

Here's the copy from the 1993 MPI catalogue:

The cropped version on page 60 in the Companion shows the poster. ;)

I remember seeing the Bela Lugosi poster, but I didn't realize that there were two different  pictures with different poses! I think the one that I'm familiar with is the 2003 Fest program pose, but now I have to go through all my Grayson stuff and see just which one I actually have a copy of!  I really like that pose on the MPI brochure.

Just a guess, but judging from the clothes that the three are wearing, the photo was most likely taken in Feb or March 1969. Alex Stevens is dressed as Chris Jennings in the photo. I think they are all wearing the same clothes from the episode when Barnabas and Julia open the secret room and find that Chris didn't change back.

The photo from the MPI catalog I have seen complete and uncropped in the DS Festival display rooms. It's usually on the  cardboard displays.

I like both pics but the werewolf's (Alex Stevens) eyes seemed to have gotten a lot smaller in the second one.  In the first one, I love how they're wide open.  The second pic seems somewhat airbrushed if you catch my drift.  Jonathan's dimple is really cute in the first one too.
