If they were plain wooden boxes, surely Willie would have been able to break into Naomi's coffin with ease.

Didn't Willie become distracted by the heart-pounding from the secret room?  I don't remember his trying very hard with Naomi.

The whole point of attaching the rope and pulley from the ring in the sarcophagus lid to the ring in the wolf's head's mouth was because Willie couldn't budge the lid on his own after his repeated attempts. Resorting to using that sort of an apparatus can't get much more determined to try to open Naomi's coffin.    Plus, let's not forget how Jason found the cigarette on the sarcophagus that was left behind by Willie. If it hadn't been made of stone, it would have surely gone up in flames! 

But getting back to this ep:

Another pretty good line from this ep.: "What I've been trying to tell you all along is that I am already dead!"

Yes, that's another great one along the same lines. 

Also, I love the use of light and shadow in the basement scene. It's all really quite effective:
