A shame that Hollywood couldn't figure out what to do with her.

John, you certainly hit the nail on the head.  :-   She wasn't used to even 1/4 of her potential.

But, for that matter, neither was Nancy Barrett.

I think Leviathans and A&E were just plain 'ole bad guys.

Spike (once in love w/Buffy), Angel (w/soul) and Barn (gray area there folks) want to save the world, not dominate it.

I don't know what movie I was watching the other day, but it was circa 1980 and I started thinking about Carolyn.

Now, I know most cousins say the beginning of DS she was approximately 17ish; I personally think she was at least 21.

I also totally think she was a college graduate.

So, we see Carolyn as spoiled and somewhat lazy, and certainly non-focused during DS' run. But what as time marched on, and now it's 1980. Most women had entered/re-entered the work force. Carolyn would be in the age range of 28-35ish.

Also, let's calculate...how many WOMEN ran (at least in name) the Collins enterprises; there was Grandmama Edith (she'd of HAD to been in charge, or it wouldn't have been HER choice as to who would run everything after her death...if it had been her husband, his will would have stated it), Judith, Liz....so, even though we've all mentioned David running Collins Enterprises, I think at some point, Carolyn would've had a strong hand in there.

What do you think?

I just saw Angel, and Spike :-* was on it.

They (Angel & Spike) were 'fighting to save the world'.

This was a common theme on BtVS & Angel; when A & S were brawling, it made me think of Barnabas.

He too was an anti-hero, but then I wondered, did Barn ever want to save the world, or just the Collinses/Collinwood?

I keep playing 1995 in my head, but I'm not certain.

Can anyone think of other instances where the 'bad guy' wants to 'save us'?

That's a thread to another small piece; this too does not mention DS. Interesting about him running away from home at age 13.

I never knew that the  writers on MacIver wrote him as blind (is that correct?); I really didn't watch it (though my mom did).

I enjoyed him in "The Sting".

So Dana Elcar had the 'Robert Blake' connection too...like Angelique!!

Were any other sports ever mentioned during DS' run?

Wait...this morning...I believe I vaguely remember...weren't horseshoes shown/thrown (specifically, perhaps, during "The" picnic...or, is it FDSMS?)

Everytime we here in NY/NJ area turn on news...talk of Jets/Olympic stadium (oyevah enough already).

But this morning, I realized that there were Olympics during '68 (Q man) season.

Off the top of anyone's head, do you know where '68's Olympics were held?

Was DS ever pre-empted for Olympics?

Next...I vaguely remember either Burke or Roger 'promising' to play catch with David (no, I don't believe they actually did).

Were any other sports ever mentioned during DS' run?

Thanks,

Does it have to be brandy? Or, all alcohol? IIRC, during '66-'67, Roger seems to drink, what I'll assume (hmm) is scotch or whiskey.

This will sound stupid, but did they have whiskey/rye/scotch readily available in 1897?

I wolud like to see a Daytime Monday through Friday  Dark Shadows :The Next Generation

I totally agree. I think that TPTB have been trying to feel the waters for some time now to see how a 'spooky' type serial would go over.

I'm referring to Passions (with ?the Nanny, sorry, don't know characters name..Tabitha?) and also, wasn't it Port Charles which had vampires?

This, while at same time huge popularity of BtVS, Angel and Charmed on weekly nights.

Next generation sounds good; perhaps keep a few core characters on (absolutely must have Nancy Barrett)...maybe David's son or daughter....Hallie (I'm ducking now!).
