A friend posted a "teaser trailer" for the new season over the holidays.  Maybe tonight I'll watch it again.  Quite short.

Worth noting is that Helen McCrory, who will return as Madame Kali in the new season, is starring in THE WOMAN IN BLACK 2 from the revived Hammer studios.  It was released to theatres last Thursday.

Would that be the same trailer that's linked to here:

Have you seen the new posters for season 2, MB?  There's one of Josh that's quite... memorable...

It's the artistry. Yeah, that's the ticket.  The dramatic artistry.

Oooo - thanks - I'll definitely check it out! Though it's interesting that it's up so soon when it doesn't premiere on Showtime until May 3rd. I suppose they're trying to lure in new fans to expand the fanbase.

Disappointed to see that YouTube has an edited version, so I think I'll wait until the Showtime version. But for those who won't have access to that, it's great that there is a YouTube version to watch.  [snow_smiley]

It will be interesting to see what was cut - I took for granted that the 'editing' was the blurring of nude body parts, etc.

That could be - I clicked the stop button right after it said "The following program has been edited from its original form".

Yeah, and with non-related previews and last season catch-up I was a bit suspicious of the 58+ minute episode length.

I'm seeing ads on Xfinity On Demand for the season premiere of Penny Dreadful being available now. So those lucky enough to have Showtime and On Demand can see it early. They did the same thing last year (when I was lucky enough to have it). But I imagine anyone with Showtime already knows this.

Speaking of "putting new spins" (the above article), I'm absolutely blown away by how witches are represented in this new season.

I watched it again last night, this time on Showtime (right time, right place, lucky me). It is SO beautifully filmed - breathtaking - would that be 'cinematography'? Whoever's vision it is and whoever is responsible for getting it done deserves praise and awards. I have no complaints so far with anything - as per usual the acting is off the charts. Eva's sister has a role this season. I like where everything's going and I am even building affection, (or is it sympathy) for Caliban.

For what it's worth, I watched the episode on Showtime's site yesterday.  The "edit" just seemed to involved blurring out body parts on various nude female actors.  I found this ridiculous but I guess it makes somebody out there happy.

Great show!

For those who may be interested, Eva Green is a nominee in the "Best actress in a drama series" category as part of tonight's Critics' Choice TV Awards (8pm ET on A&E).

Though as good as she was in Season 1, given her competition (Julianna Margulies, The Good Wife (CBS); Keri Russell, The Americans (FX); Taraji P. Henson, Empire (FOX); Vera Farmiga, Bates Motel (A&E); Viola Davis, How to Get Away With Murder (ABC)), she probably doesn't have a chance of winning. But one never knows? And, of course, as they always say, it's an honor just to be nominated.  [snow_wink]

She's not disappointed this season thus far. That show is totally off the chain. Lately I've been fantasizing it as Dark Shadows. I am having a lot of fun with it.

Dorian and Ethan still have no followup.  Dorian has a new lover, and last week they were given a gay sex scene that did not cutaway at the beginning like Dorian/Ethan's scene did.  I take it that since Dorian slept with Brona, Vanessa, and Ethan, that he will be drawn into their imminent love triangle at some point.  I'm really loving season 2 thus far, there is so much great character development and so many touching moments.

I am not into award shows, but I have to say that Helen McCrory has really captivated me in the role of Evelyn.  I've only seen episode 1 of the current series and various clips SHO has posted to YT, but she's invariably awesome--such fabulous craft as an actress, and I think she would have been PERFECT on DS--the ORIGINAL series that is.

I also personally would like to see Simon Russell Beale get an award because he's totally ringing my Thayer David chimes as Lyle, but I think the character is probably too minor and, inevitably, too eccentric, to attract attention from the Emmies.

Somebody was speculating that Lyle and Ethan should have a roll in the hay since Lyle is evidently besotted with Ethan.  I found myself wondering just what Lyle's intricately composed hair and beard would look like in the wake of such... vigorous exercise.  Let's face it, Ethan doesn't go from Mild to Wild--he STARTS Wild and goes BESTIAL.
