In 1968, The Boys in the Band became the first gay themed play to achieve popular sucess in the USA. Keith Prentice (Morgan, 1841 PT) joined his stage castmates for the 1970 film version.
Both the play & film are considered groundbreakers, paving the way for the many gay plays and films that are now routinely produced.
This coming Fall, the documentary Making the Boys will open in New York & LA. The film will chronicle the genesis & history of the play, and it's journey from stage to screen, as well as analysis of it's cultural impact.
No doubt Keith will be seen somewhere in all that!
BTW, Don Briscoe was also in the stage version, as a replacement cast member, though I'm not sure which role he played, but wouldn't it be cool if footage of him showed up?
A DVD release will be announced.
