I have to go with Quentin, man he terrified me as a little girl, I was so sure whenever I went into a darkened room or poorly-lit room, I would find Quentin there! He was so menacing to me he had that much of an effect on me!

I think Quentin was scarier. Gerard was scary too but he never gave me nightmares. Quentin and Barnabas are the two DS characters I had horrible nightmares about.
-
I think that Quentin is scarier too. But Gerard LOOKED scarier than Quentin......that glare.....YIKES!! But I think the reason that Gerard wasn't as scary was because all that was done before with Quentin, so we kind of knew what to expect when he came around.
So, I think Gerard had the scarier face, but Quentin had more of a scary effect because he was the original one.

For me, Quentin was scarier than Gerard. Yes, Gerard had the more lethal sneer, but Quentin could smile widely with those blue eyes twinkling... as he was preparing to strangle a governess with a sash! To me, that's scarier - not telegraphing your manic evil as you carry out a sinister move.

In certain respects a toss up. Quentin had the more sinister grin, Gerard had the more sinister sneer.
Gerard with his more heavy set countenance would seem more intimidating. Even in his sinister ghostly appearances, Quentin was dapper and appealling in his own way.

Quentin:
sad, lonely, looking for love from the family who rejected him.
Gerard: evil incarnate, his sole purpose
was to hurt & destroy.
Gerard: scarier ghost.
Quentin: still scary, but more sympathetic character with a better storyline.

Good question! My vote goes to Quentin.
As far as I can remember (having only seen the storyline once) Gerard was pure evil from the start, but Quentin charmed the children at first until he pulled a 180 and scared them so badly they couldn't NOT do what he said, and Gerard never possessed children to commit murder for him.

I agree with Brandon. Having seen Quentin's haunting of the house and possession of the children, we knew what was to come when Gerard appeared, different face, same kind of haunting.
IMHO, Quentin was more effective as a ghost, slowly drawing the children, especially david, in to a web so that they didn't realize what was happening, and once they did, they were unable to free themselves. My vote is for Quentin.

Quentin. His haunting gave me the chills as an adult watching it for the first time in the 1990's.
