We go from one Collinwood that is being destroyed to another Collinwood that already is destroyed.
Julia and Barnabas somehow find themselves 25 years in the future. Something horrible happened while they were off in parallel time. The house is in ruins and there is no trace of anyone. This episode and the one it follows scared the hell out of me when I watched them initially. The two characters are understandably confused and overwhelmed. They will remain so, even as they gather more information but little in the way of answers.
Welcome back, Mrs. Johnson. It's been too long, even if they managed to put Clarice in an even uglier wig. Mrs. Johnson knows something about what happened but she's too terrified to say anything. But terrified of what?
It seems that Mrs. Johnson may be the only person to have lived through whatever happened with her sanity relatively intact. But she's not spilling any beans, directing them to someone named Fredericks. (Surely not of Hollywood).
Barnabas seems to get over the separation from Roxanne rather quickly. Oh, he's still whiny but not quite as obsessive as he has been about Josette. For now, at least. Julia sets him straight with a heartbreaking speech about love. This is one of the most powerful scenes ever shown on DS. And Grayson really delivers.
