I decided to go a different route this time and do my own Dark Shadow's opening sequence. Dont worry, i will still do my promos, heres a lil of something different. I hope you guys like it. The beginning cracks me up!
BTW, the musical peice i chose is the theme of The Young and the restless.

i just checked it out and it's genius as always.i used to watch y & r and that song was perfect.where did you get those sketches DStoDA?
my favorite promo is the 1967 one.

There were no such sketches. These "scetches" were either taken from screen captures or actual photos and photoshopped to make it look like they were sketches.

Oh that is lovely!

Another brilliant piece DStoDA! If you aren't doing this kind of work for a living you should be! Looking forward to seeing your future projects. ;D
-
thanks!!! No, i might not do this type of work for a living. My sister is a graphic designer, but i dont think i will follow in her steps.
I just wanna say that this is not the only version. Someone on another board got ticked off that joan bennett wasnt in this one, but how on earth would i be able to fit in so many people on one version? It would wreck the whole thing. I might do the other later on.
-
I personally missed Joan Bennett, Louis Edmonds, Alexandra Moltke and David Henesy. Even with the missing, it still was very well done. It must have taken you a great deal of time to draw them and pull all this together. It's less spooky with the Y&R theme but it works.
Job well done.

dont worry VWF!! an opening is coming for those 4 soon. If i ever use the Closing theme, (which is a lot longer) than i might be able to include everyone under one opening.
Actually, I was thinking about doing the openings by storylines. That way, we could get one with short hair julia and a long haired julia and even a Magda one.
BTW, guys, i hope you dont think i have too much time on my hands. I didnt draw thepictures, they were easily done on the computer via photoshop.
-
on the real "the young & the restless" there are several opening sequences because there are so many characters(at least 4).i too missed elizabeth and victoria in this one but it was so good i didn't really care.it must be hard including everone's favorites.

OMG... lmao, DStoDA! Nice work - Good job! :-*
And photoshop...snort...don't even get me started... ;) 8)
Heather [a Graphic Designer-in training who's -oddly enough- more often comfortable doin' it by hand. Giggle... ;D]

That's really cool - I like the line-up of the cast at the end lots, along with the pacing of the images. I had a go at something similar (http://www.collinwood.net/design/dscomplete.rm) a year or so ago...
I'd love to see a bonafide update version of the DS title sequence - one of the (many) disappointments of the pilot project was that they never got to create any graphics... Seeing a modern version of those could have been amazing.

Oh Yea, Stuart!!! I've watch yours a couple times! You inspired me!! What program do you use to get so many images together? I use a very ghetto Windows Movie Maker, yet i find tricks to create stuff.
-
I use Adobe Premiere, with Photoshop used to create some of the mattes and static elements. Premiere is amazing once you get to grips with it - for this kind of stuff it seems to handle pretty much anything you throw at it.
-
oh my god .. what tributes Julia is getting. . that was lovely. . .hahaha!

Tell me, tell me now!

COOL! I've watched all of your promos tonight-and Stuart's--and enjoyed them all. Specially like the 1967 promo with a certain Hitchcockian theme. I also did one of my own, combining elements from the original series and the 91 revival (as an opening sequence), but I haven't made time to post it yet. Maybe someday soon. ;)

DS to DA, these are brilliant. I never watched Y & R so I don't "get the joke," but I think what you have created is beautiful. I enjoyed both a lot, but of course my favorite is the first one--gotta love JAB!
That photoshop program with which you created the "sketches" produced marvelous work. The close-up of Grayson's face from the TV Guide article is particularly impressive.
your fan, Gothick

Thanks Gothick! I love the things I do with DS and I love finding interesting ways for people to take notice of DS.
there isnt really a joke of Y&R, i'm just taking a beautiful concept and applying it to DS. I you want to see what i was trying to imitate, go here :

BTW, I try to showcase JAB as much as i can, from the Time Cover to the Love is a battlefield promo, and to the Opening. and im not finished with them yet. This is only the beginning.

I upgraded my Windows Media Player, so now I'm finally able to view your work!
You've done a great job with these. They're very compelling and make me want to rewatch the entire series!
