Like Nancy, I'm assuming Pierson means supporting an event that isn't necessarily based in one venue, like a hotel. Going back as early as the pre-Fest ShadowCon days, the biggest fan gatherings have always been at one venue.

Jim's comment wasn't an ominous warning or anything, lest anyone is worrying.  Basically it's an assurance that as long as there is a fan "market", there will be official events of some sort to cater for it.

I interviewed Jim on that and a bunch of other ongoing DS-related projects and issues, and he did discuss the Fest situation in some detail.  I'll get the whole thing up on my site sometime this weekend, but I thought I'd get the most newsworthy bits up in the meantime.

Speaking of Essex. It wouldn't surprise me if the Festival took a day trip there as part of a three day Tarrytown event. In 1993 a bus trip to both Norwalk & Essex, Conn was included amongst the scheduled events of the 4 day 1993 NYC Festival. The bus trip to both Norwalk & Essex Conn. took place on the Thursday preceding the Festival that year.

The buses stopped in Norwalk (app. 30 minutes from Tarrytown) first, for what I remember to be a couple hours, and then continued on to Essex,(app. 1 1/2 HRS from Norwalk) and we stayed there for a couple hours as well, before returning to NYC. It was a gorgeous day and a wonderful day trip to view many memorable Dark Shadows related locations used in the filming of the series and movies. These sites include ; The Evans Cottage(private residence), Collinsport Inn(Griswold Inn), Collinsport Police Station(Essex Post Office), Collins Cannery(Essex Marina) and the Monastery(Lockwood-Mathews mansion in Norwalk) to name a few. :)

I hope he'll clear the air on this situation.  It was very hard hearing him at the banquet with all the dishes rattling.  Also, Ed's event will be in Tarrytown in October 2004.  Will this also turn out to be the Fest?  Or will there be two separate events in Tarrytown?

I'd say the chances of the C.O.L.L.I.N.S. Association and the Festival events combining are slim to none. Both events do well enough to hold their own, so there would be little point in combining them.
