Well, I've thought about it, and I've even googled on "ascension religion" but I haven't achieved enlightenment.  Story of my life.  Are we to assume that Magnus is about to ascend into heaven (rapturously, I hope) and we'll never see him again?

Well, not heaven per se - more like a higher plain of existence/enlightenment. Gods can still be gods but remain earthbound. But ascendants transcend the mortal world - though that doesn't preclude them from continuing to interact with it.  [ghost_wink]

Check out: Ascension - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. And you'll note that one doesn't necessarily need to be "morally good" to ascend (the Buffyverse concept being a prime example of that).  [b003]

Are we sure about that post count?!   I haven't really looked much since the 2600 "God" threshhold.     Let's remember I do these very short posts... in and out fast.... I feel as if I haven't met half the people here.

Strangely, I've only started hearing about this "ascension" idea via the extremely disappointing Stargate: Atlantis.

Sorry retzev... my computer can't handle YouTube or moving images in general.    I'm sure whatever it was was a cool tribute, or a merciless practical joke, or an attempt to control my mind, or a genetically re-engineered intelligent avocado with a limp, or something in that general category.
