I agree with Magnus, that the scene seems shoehorned in. And I disagree that it was well done. It is totally pointless IMO. We already know Barn cares and he's already admitted it more than once and even at Willie's goading. I'm just as sick of this rehash as I am of Julia being scorned by Barnabas. If neither ever happens again I will be one happy fan. And while I'm grousing, if I never hear a Karlen OV-O it won't be too soon.

I'm kind of digging the way the writers brought Liz back and having her indirectly help Barn find Julia. I'm pretty sure it was Magnus who mentioned Liz & Julia both having bad supernatural days together but separate, lol. I loved that interplay here today in their scenes together.

Did not like how Willie Loomis was written today. Hall was good as victim Julia. I was impressed with her 'happy' face. The fight scene was godawful. Liked Bennett as Liz - the vacation did her a world of good.

I wonder why they choose to call them coffins instead of caskets? I don't think I ever heard the word coffin until Dark Shadows. Growing up it was always referred to as a casket in my family.

I caught a moment that was captured as a photo cover for one of the Marilyn Ross novels, as Barn was opening Tom's coffin. The Secret of Barnabas Collins.

love, Love LOVE, the opening shot of Mrs. Johnson in the drawing room window. Leave it to Blackburn to stand exactly on her mark.

I really enjoyed this episode and it had me on the edge of my seat pretty much throughout. Except for Briscoe, everyone did a bang up job with their characters. I especially loved Clarice's work. Nice writing throughout, or at least I wasn't snapped out of my viewing trance by anything that didn't quite fit coming out of anyone's mouth.

I liked the emotional gravity of the episode too. I was really engrossed by the concerns of Liz, Roger and Mrs. Johnson, and even by Julia's yearning to be with Tom. Blair was the odd man out here but even this character was perfectly written into the action.

I got a big kick out of seeing some pink border trading card shots/stills that clearly came from this episode. It got me wondering if the Mrs. J. character got any cards in her honor. If so, I would love to have one of those.

I derived nothing but satisfaction from this episode. It brought up no issues or curiosities for me. It was purely entertaining.

she went back to 1795 to find Peter Bradford, after all, sometimes you just can't improve on the original.

I am so hating Davis' Jeff Clark right now. About as much as the writing lately and especially in this episode's start. Though the episode improves as it progresses.

Always nice to see Edmonds back. He & Frid do work well together. Their good work is sorely needed at this point in this episode. Not happy with Barn's lack of concern re: Liz, and the same for Julia. No biggie but a mistake on the part of the writers IMO. I mean Barn doesn't even contort with concern. Not believable at all.

If MPI was so hot to edit out material I could have done without the Jeff, Julia, Barn scene in the basement lab. As Magnus said, it only underscored the absence of all that came before it, just to tell us that Jeff will help.

I like how Julia looks progressively worse as the episode wears on. You'd think Tom would have a chick on the side or more than one victim.

Frid did well today. And Hall had some really good moments. Edmonds was flawless. Briscoe as vampire is doing nothing for me. And why he came after Julia is beyond me in or out of context. I want to know if Julia as victim is random or purposeful in context.

Well, well, well, finally someone who knows they've been bitten.

Lackluster writing throughout the episode.

In a skit I would have Julia spin/twirl like a top as Barn unravels her scarf. More so as done in yesterday's close.

I like Julia's frankness in the foyer scene. Typical Barn - "In the morning you can continue with the experiment."

And Jeff lives through yet another crisis, his hair no doubt breaking the fall. Julia regains much of her composure for the Adam scene and beyond. Barn & Jules leave the scene with absolutely no momentary concern for Vicki or Jeff, which one might expect to come back to bite them, but at least they do have a good reason for doing so. And this time there will be someone there when Jeff hangs up with the sheriff.

First time I've ever noticed AM looking at the teleprompter. She looks great BTW, even with the weird hairdo. She would have been fantastic on a real soap.

Stupid Adam. If I were Barn or Jules I would tell him that his breaking that beaker set the experiment back two months, lol. I am not having any problem with the Adam character yet. At least Rodan is a consistently good actor and everything he does makes sense. I am getting more tired of hearing Barn say he must destroy Tom. I have this weird aversion to the Barnabas character using the word destroy. It irks the hell out of me.

I kinda wish Jeff had run into Adam in the woods and been knocked unconscious for a few days, or better yet, held captive in the same room as Vicki at Blair house. But no such luck, he discovers the new experiment with much more screen time than needed. That he had to raise the sheet on the body to figure it all out seems preposterous.

No awards today.

I agree with you regarding the humor, MB.

I am under the impression that no family knew Barn was a vampire except Liz.

Has George Whitaker been demoted or promoted to Technical Director? This might explain some of the ghastly performances and staging of late. Ken McEwen associates & Sean Dhu Sullivan directs. Maybe things improve today.

John Karlen OV-O. Bad

I don't care much for Karlen's performance here but Hall is good. I'm not crazy about the writers not having Willie walk Julia home either. Mrs' J is cute/funny but I feel like she might be a bit out of character to be so aggressive with Julia. I can see the whole thing going down but just not so loudly or aggressively. Has the way to Mrs. J's room always been under the landing?

The Tom bite scene must have been very thrilling for first time viewers back in the day.

Mrs. J.: "Curtained off?!" "Too much sunlight??" (lol) Cute camera angels with Julia in the mirror, etc. but a little rough. And good old Mrs. J with Barnabas down in the foyer. Tee hee! Always enjoy Blackburn.

Did Willie really have to smile like that when he entered Julia's room? (BOOOOOOOO!!! from the gallery and maybe a tomato or two.) Anyone think Willie's figured 'it' out by noticing Julia's reaction to the dogs? It seems as though Barn may have figured it out once Willie reports back to him. I can see why you are not buying Barn's exaggerated reaction to her wounds, ILB. I'll tell you what I'm not buying, it is Tom's intelligence as a vampire. I don't have a reasonable explanation for it but it just seems 'wrong' to me.

Julia leaves as she came, ignoring Mrs. J. I wonder if Liz were home if MJ would alert her to Julia's strange behavior?

The closing scene was the best scene in the episode. It was very well done on all fronts and I enjoyed it very much. Hall was very good throughout the episode. Seeing Julia as a woman only and not a doctor or sidekick seems almost novel.
