My guess is that the personal announcement was fine and not inappropriate; however, the announcement also contained an explicit socio-political statement, which became the subject, or at least instigator, of additional, inappropriate commentary, and that's why Midnite is interjecting here. Congratulations are fine and dandy; expounding on the (perhaps gratuitous) additional commentary is not.

Just the opinion of a former head sysop... ;)

The poster who chose to ignore all reminders in this topic that it's about a personal announcement and is not an invitation to share political views not only saw the message removed but has also lost all posting privileges, though it was also due to the fact that the member violated the first 5 forum guidelines in the process.  Hopefully, it's crystal clear NOW that discussions of personal politics are not appropriate in this topic and on these forums.

Had a busy month at City Hall, so I haven't stopped by for a few weeks.

Performing wedding ceremonies is one of the most gratifying things I've ever done.
My original swearing in was good for 30 days only, but I don`t want to stop.

As of Sat March 6, I am an ordained Minister of the Universal Life Church in Modesto CA. I'll be performing weddings for life!

Anyone who wants to come to SF to get married, I am here.
The City Hall weddings are now by appointment only, and the line is three months long.
Email Rev. David to get married when you want to!

I think it would be wonderful to unite DS fans in wedded bliss, gay or straight!

Peace and Love,
David :D

Thanks Jennifer.

And thanks to Jennifer, Midnite & Dom for the very supportive emails I got.

I just got hired by a straight couple to do their June wedding, and two guys from Oakland want to meet me at Sf City Hall! I'm on a roll!

Tonite, much to my shock, footage of me marrying two women appeared on
60 Mins 2!!("are you ready for the big moment? I now pronounce you spouses for life!")

I really would love someday to do a wedding for DS fans, or even a cast member!

Peace and Love,
David
(just call me Rev, Baby!!!)

Here's a screen cap from last night's 60 Minutes II.  That's
our Rev. David on the far right.

Thanks, Joe!

I'm arriving in Jersey on the 31st, Connie. I'll check out your dowry and give you an answer by April 19th. Hopefully you'll be bringing more into this marriage than a stepchild and digital camera - [lol2].

Together, we can make some fabuous DS Storyboards of our own - [wink2]

(Your future sweetheart?) [luv] dom

PS - I guess this would make it a 1/2 gay wedding of two DS fans, lol.

Whoa!  I gotta actually READ the board.  Here I have a possible marriage proposal and I almost missed it!!
April 19th???  LOL  Why April 19th?

Dowry?  Um.....well, aside from some real estate equity, there isn't much.  The upside is the what d'ya call.....unseen rewards of actually being married to me.  LOL

Yes.  Maybe we could come up with some really weird stuff!

I bet it would definitely be a unique FIRST.  But hey.....companionship.  THAT'S what's important in life!
(It's just as well.  Probably no straight guy would want me anyway)  [lghy]

PS - Can you cook?   ;D

It's a very odd and curious Dark Shadows world in which we live.  Today, I had the lovely pleasure of meeting with a new client who not only remembers the show, but got married in SF in February and captured for 60 Minutes II prosperity.  The only thing that didn't jive was the Rev. David.

Since it turns out she is also a neighbor, I'm sure I'm going to be lending some of my DVDs.

Connie:  Can I be your bride's maid?  I just love weddings.

Absolutely!  You'd make a beautiful bride's maid.
(Uh oh....dom's thinking he's getting in over his head)  LOL

PS - If I had some DS DVD's, I wouldn't lend them to noBODY!!!  [lghy]

can I play Rev. Trask on the WB DS?

The CA State Supreme Court put a temp hold on the weddings, but the 4,000 weddings already conducted are still considered valid.

Four lesbian couples just filed suit for the right to marry, and Rev. David, ever the activist, has let it be known around town that he will conduct weddings anyway, in defiance of the court and at no cost to couples.

Since I consider doing these weddings
to be a spiritual & religious calling,
they are protected by the Federal Constitution. I will go to court & say that if need be.

This is like Rosa Parks, Dr. King & the 1950s bus boycott, it ain't gonna go away! We will win the fight, as Mrs. Parks & Dr. King did!

Any gay or lesbian couples here looking for a cute Minister to marry them?

Just call me
Rev, Baby!

Dear Rev. David,

Could you possibly marry me and TLATKLS?  But only if I can have her as my bride "in a bizarre act of unnatural love."  (Basically, that means having a DJ spin disco at the reception.)  If she can't make it, then I'll settle for Miss Louann from Romper Room, or Annette Funicello.  There are some things you just never grow out of.
