A reference to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, in which 42 was the answer to life, the universe, and everything.  Once upon a time there was an article in Discover Magazine in which the developers of string theory knew that their theory was correct if 6 time 7 equaled 42.  I'd like to know if Douglas Adams read that article.
