The article states so little.  Is this a reimagining of the novel?  (I hate saying "remake" of a movie based on a novel - a remake is of a film that has no original source; doing a version of the novel after it has been made into a film is an imagining of the novel.)

odd...

the premise doesn't really lend itself to the extended run of a television series. the story is very self contained and finite.

a mini series maybe. but I don't really see how it can become a series that runs from season to season? it has a very definitive climax implied in the title.

Maybe it'll have the premise of the exorcist, after dispatching the original case based upon Blatty's novel, going out in the world and helping others so afflicted.  In 2002, there was the made-for-TV version of Carrie (to me, the best cinematic version of King's novel, closest to it, save for the ending) that was to be a pilot for a series where she, in disguise, travels the country helping kids with preternatural powers.  Maybe this is the same thing.

The premise strikes me as rather limiting. The demon of the week could get repetitive very quickly. Even Buffie had to go beyond vampires at some point.

The official description of the pilot refers to it as "a propulsive, serialized psychological thriller following two very different men tackling one family’s case of horrifying demonic possession, and confronting the face of true evil." The specific inclusions of the word "serialized" and the phrase "one family's case" makes it sound like, should the pilot be picked up, the resulting show would be a serialized examination of only the one case of demonic possession in the MacNeil family over however many eps the show is picked up for. But who knows? I suppose the only thing to do is wait for more details to be released...

whatever it is i'll be skipping it...

as a child it scared...and scarred...me so deeply my mother said she was ready to send me to a child psychologist. to this day I cannot watch a minute of it.

even now when I see Linda Blair as a middle aged woman she unnerves me. [snow_shocked]

Geena Davis Cast in Fox’s ‘Exorcist’ Reboot Pilot

Interesting that they've changed the name of the family, which could mean that it's not going to be as based on the novel as we might have thought. I suppose only time will tell...

Fox Orders The Exorcist, Lethal Weapon, The Mick and 3 Others to Series

Well, now we know that we'll definitely get to see how closely or not so closely the series will resemble the novel...

Fall TV: Watch Trailers for Fox's ..., The Exorcist, ... and More

It certainly looks like it has potential. And apparently it's a new story that takes place after the events of the novel...

i have mentioned in the past that the company i work for distributes Monica Rich Kossan's ( NoDS' Sarah Castle) fine home and jewelry collection...

she was a busy child actress and model and auditioned for, and came very close to being cast, the role in the original movie that ultimately went to Linda Blair.

Monica is probably a much better adjusted person than Linda Blair. She can be rather nasty at conventions. I'm glad that I met her when the autograph was only cost me $5.00.
