I'm thinking that "the jigsaw puzzle of the past" referred to in the voiceover that Barnabas is desperately trying to piece together is now, thanks to him, an incomplete and unrecognizable mess.
But the more I watch this storyline, the more I love Thayer's portrayal of Sandor!
Barnabas to Sandor: "I feel there is someone here... watching." "It's gone now."
It seems that both Barnabas and Angelique were given heightened powers in 1897. I always assumed that Angelique's were perfected during however much time was spent in Hell since her torching in 1796. But Barn's heightened senses-- in 1897, he can sense when Angelique or Laura is near-- seem to have come out of nowhere. Or at least I don't recall his having the ability to feel the presence of supernatural creatures when he was last a vampire.

Barnabas and Quentin have a common goal (destroying Laura), but unfortunately they're still incapable of working together. And Barnabas is not helping the situation with his mysterious comings and goings, constant interferences in family matters, and dreadfully obvious interrogation techniques.
Laura's orgasmic reaction as her painting burned in the fireplace-- "aaaah ohh it's been so long aaaa so long"-- made me long for the subtly of Laura's 66/67 story.![[easter_sad]](http://www.dsboards.com/SMF/Smileys/classic/easter_sad.gif "Sad")

I finished the collected "Watchmen" yesterday (I told you I'm a geek), and after seeing the images in this topic's links, it struck me that the creature in the WM comics is very Cthulhu-like, though also part Cyclops (and I won't get into the disturbing sexual imagery that results from this combination, yikes).
This is OT for Leviathans, but since I'm currently watching the 1897 storyline, it made me smile that the last stop in Ozymandia's journey around the world was Alexandria.![[easter_cheesy]](http://www.dsboards.com/SMF/Smileys/classic/easter_cheesy.gif "Cheesy")

I skip DS in searches. "The first year" (in quotes) plus book brings up less than a page if it's limited to the last few years.

Gothick, the "DS: The First Year" book is that reprint of "The History of DS 66-67" we waited ages for. I bought it for the pictures, actually. The summaries of the 2 books end within an ep of each other; DS:TFY finishes with #210. You can buy it via the Fest site.

Pansity, Magda has said things in the storyline indicating that she and Sandor spent time on the road. So her presence when Laura arrived doesn't mean she stayed put.
We got some other interesting tidbits in this ep as well; thank you, Sam Hall:
Another terrific Laura/Edward scene. I'm repeating myself, but I wish we had more of them.
That looked just like the Stockbridge crypt seen in the pre-Barn eps, and Jeremiah's wife was, after all, a Stockbridge. But using the same set created a continuity error-- the know-it-all caretaker would have alerted Guthrie & Co. in 1967 that not only was there another Laura in there [spoiler]who died by fire,[/spoiler] but that one happened to be a Collins.![[sure]](http://www.dsboards.com/SMF/Smileys/classic/sure.gif "Uh, Sure")

Barn feared Laura's powers (which serves him right for not minding his own business).
Laura owns only one dress.
