The Real Willie Loomis
« on: October 26, 2002, 02:47:02 AM »
You can tell I'm bored being restricted with this eye patch!
Anyhow, our local PBS channel will be showing the history of the LOOMIS GANG, apparently a notorious gang that terrorized central New York during the 19th Century. And, you might know, there was a Willie Loomis among the family!! Our dear boy doesn't have a good past.
In case anyone is interested, I looked up the history of the Loomis gang:

Hi Carol,  good to see you back!

I just finished reading the history of the "Loomis gang" and laughed outloud when I got to this part,

"William the oldest brother seems to have been cut out for a plodding farmer.  He has no mental activity and was controlled by the younger and brighter members of the family"

Is this ironic or what?  Even as a character everyone is still trying to control him.  I wonder if this is where Dan Curtis got the idea from?

Thanks for posting this, it was interesting, not only to read up on Willie's namesake but also to read up on history concerning New York and some of it's "shady characters" :-)
