I thought it was cute, the riddle came from one of my daughter's math papers from school. I know that seems weird!

Actually, it doesn't.  Was it one of those papers where the answer to every problem corresponds to a letter and you have to fill in the numbered boxes at the top to answer the riddle?  We had those work sheets right through sophomore year.  The good thing about them was that if you already knew the punch line, you could simply fill in the answers without toiling over the figuring.[evily]

The math paper has the answers to the problems, corresponding to numerals with color codes, (11-black, 12-orange), to make a picture of a black bat on orange background. The riddle is at the top of the page, and the answer is at the bottom. Slightly different! We never had fun things like that when I was in school. Math was just math and very boring, until my sophomore year when I had a crush on my math teacher, and used to sit with him at his desk everyday. I'm not kidding!
