THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
« on: October 23, 2002, 07:21:59 PM »
What a surprise to SEE and read all the wonderful wishes for my complete recovery. I truly never expected to know that I had so many friends who were concerned about me.

To bring everyone up to date, I had a detached retina in my right eye. Retinal specialist was able to laser two holes closed but the third was the problem. He inserted a silicone buckle near the hole to hold retina in place but I still have gelatinous fluid that won't drain. Hopefully it will but if it doesn't, it may mean more surgery.  I am NOT looking forward to this possibility.

Anyhow, I can see better today than yesterday but I can't stay on comp for long--the bright screen bothers my eyes.

Again, thanx SO MUCH for all your prayers and kind thoughts.

I'm glad that you're doing good, Carol. I hope you won't need another surgery, amazing what the eye doctors can do these days. I hope all goes well with my LASIK surgery tomorrow. I have been wearing glasses, and contact lenses since 1981, can't wait to get rid of them! I have been trying since January to get the surgery done, but was not a candidate, because of a chronic infection in both eyes, and extreme Dry Eye. After MANY visits to the doctor who performs the surgery, was I finally able to clear up my eyes, and become a candidate for the surgery. Thought the day would never come!

Hi Carol,  Hey, it's good to see you're back to the group so quick!  Glad that all is coming along well so far.
My Mom had the same kind of problem and also had to have a silicone buckle put in place, and so far, so good! This was done only about 2 months ago and her eyesight has been improving steadily (knock on wood) since then.

Take care of yourself and rest plenty (let hubby & kids do everything around the house)  Try not to jump the gun and take one day at a time.  Hopefully the fluid will drain itself out and you'll be okay.  We're all thinking of ya! :-)

Well, the only reason I was praying is because if anything unfortunate were to befall you, I might not get any more pictures of Steve Tyler in the mail. ;)

I have a stack of newspapers since Friday that I intend to read and, I WILL READ THEM(and your mom knows that I will), so if I come across any Steve Tyler pix, you will most certainly get it in the mail.

That sounds like a nasty thing to go through ... anything with the eyes seems so ... sensitive.  Best wishes.

Believe me, Vlad, it is NOT something I wanted to go through. I do NOT like any procedure that involves the eyes. Even tho I am a nurse, I turn away when the eye is involved so you might know this would happen to ME of all people.
My husband came through cataract surgery with no problem; my daughter came through eyelid surgery with no problem. STILL, I hoped it would NEVER happen to me. Alas, it did and I was very calm the morning of surgery. Preop BP was 128/68 and that was before they gave me any sedation.
I'm doing much better today. Eyelid is open more but I still can't see clearly. My husband took me out to dinner even tho I look like a battered wife!! I now know why the clerk at supermarket looked at me funny--she probably thought, "poor thing is out buying food while the bastard is home drinking beer!"  LOL. Wait till they see me at work on Monday.
