Testing. 1, 2, 3... / no fair!  MB WAS/IS RIGHT (HAIL MB)
« on: February 08, 2003, 01:00:34 AM »
Okay boys & girls...spent ALL DAY on phone w/verizon (lol they are evil)...who then (cover your ears MB & Midnite) transfered me to Microsoft.
I do not repeat do not have it in me to tell you of my SIX HOURS ON THE PHONE (the Microsoft dude was helpful & nice)...
point is:
I couldn't access internet; I was online, but couldn't do/go anywhere (page cannot be displayed).

Okay...so finally the Microsoft dude has me UNINSTALL NORTON FIREWALL...all's well.

But, for all of us following the struggles of recent board...I CAN go forward/backwards/home, where ever I chose, whereas for last few weeks, if I clicked home or to another thread, I'd get error message & couldn't come back into DS board until I'd timed out.

Food for thought...

Patti

Current Talk '03 I / Character Development
« on: February 05, 2003, 02:46:56 AM »
We all have our little quips about the poor writing and character development (and rightly so!), but, why not take a chance to tell about some of the developments we enjoy?

I really enjoy the way DS writers & TPTB took a patricidal maniac (re: David) and introduced a 200 yr old meanie (re: Barn).

David was in a word: snotty.

We don't really have a reason to like him; perhaps to pity him.

Barn, although could try to be helpful (Vicki), was/is self-serving (to say the least).

But, when we get back to the future from 1897, I really do like the way Barnabas and David click. I enjoy their familiar relationship; unlike the relationship Quentin has w/Jamison, it doesn't seem to interfere with Roger (unlike with Edward, who is jealous).

So, this would be my example of a character development which for all practical purposes IS sloppy (it's really never explained why David stops hating/mistrusting Barn), but, yet, I thoroughly enjoy the outcome.

Well, I read it, but still don't know what SQL means.
But...I've got Verizon online...I BELIEVE this article is saying that IPs need to start getting on the ball.

Patti
(oh, BTW...when I called Verizon this a.m., and of course was on hold for the obligatory 20 minutes, was told, it's not our problem if you're being hacked into)....

And BTW, have you ever checked the Symantec support pages for NPF? I browsed through them for Patti last night (trying to see if I could find a solution for her problem) and couldn't believe how many problems people can encounter using it. [shkdy]

MB...in a nice, slow pace (in American, NOT English!), can you explain WHAT this means?
I'm trying to utilize my $50 worth  of Norton...not too well (it keeps telling me I don't have e-mail blocked, I read their #$^ directions, not what they say).
If I ADDED the aforementioned firewall (yours), would it counteract with Norcaught in a bit of line and now, me and stereo and okay, I did not type 'and stereo and okay'.

Okay...I've watched further now (except, it's a new VCR & I haven't really watched since getting it; VCRs just randomly kicking out/stopping during a scene & it goes right to another)
I MISSED QUENTIN BEING DEFORMED.

Minerva is getting on my nerves.

Where did Tim go?

Why couldn't Barn just make Carl forget (yeah, I know, JK needed some time off)?

One thing I notice...and I'd like some feedback from those of you who know...it seems like when 1897 is over, Joan Bennett really never has a big part...is this because she wanted less OR did the fan mail diminish.
(On the same note, JK's characters got better...at least my fav no spoilage...but he's the kittens husband).

Okay...through the years I've seen people make the comment "It would've been good if Julia & Barn took Quentin into their confidence"...but, with what I've seen, why doesn't he know??? Once he gets over being 'grant' why doesn't he remember?

Not sure why, but I'm not enjoying 1897 as my first time around. ?!?

Quentin is very self-absorbed, can't stand Judith, Carl's getting on my nerves.

I just saw where Carl introduces Pansy to Beth & B:

"I'm Gonna Dance For You

Barn's thoughts:I may be a mass murderer, but never would I marry beneath my station to disgrace the family name.

Beth's thoughts:I may be an adulterous flooze, but this chick's trailer park trash :D

Since I'm sick as a dog [puke], I'm watching about 2 weeks ago.
A couple of things; regarding the cottage.
That's a WOOD BURNING fireplace (in regards to recent post about fireplaces); you can see the flames not being uniform and smoke.
Ok...one thing I never noticed before...in the chimney, above the fireplace, are 1-2 cabinets.
I don't remember them before...does anyone else?
Also...Quentin just said, "knows my secret, you (beth), gypsies, Evan AND BARNABAS"...when did Barn find out?

Imagine have a 'spare cottage' to have privacy...
