Curious about Cookies
« on: May 16, 2005, 04:07:19 AM »
I just asked this question at the WordPerfect forum, too.

Earlier today I was going through cookies and was planning on deleting some.  I apparently accidentally clicked "delete all cookies" instead of just the one I was on.  I assumed I would have to guess what time I was last here and look up everything after that.

I DID have to log in, but once in, it remembered me and had all of the appropriate "new" designations.  The same thing happened at WP.  I can't imagine how it knows any of that if the cookies are gone.

I can't speak for the WP forum, but the only pertinent info stored in the forum's cookie is login status (whether a member wants to stayed logged in all the time or they've logged out). Everything else about members' accounts (the last time they visited the forum, the posts they've read, whether they have any new PMs, etc,) is all stored in the forum's database.

Thank you!  It's probably the same for the other.  A couple of other people reported logging in from different computers and it remembered all their information.
