Title: 2012 Movie Question
Post by: Patti Feinberg on June 06, 2016, 05:36:17 PM
On the top, it says, "DS played for 23 weeks...."

Did it play in Europe? How about anywhere in Asia (I'm assuming not in Pakestan, but, what about Japan or Korea)?

Australia?

Does anyone know how many languages (if any) it was 'dubbed'?

Thanks,

Patti

Those 23 weeks only pertain to how long we know for sure that the film played in the US.

As for how many other countries it played in, well, we know for certain that it played in Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Chile, Colombia, Croatia, Denmark, East Africa, Ecuador, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Japan, Lebanon, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Panama, Peru, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Russia, Serbia & Montenegro, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, United Kingdom, Uruguay, and Venezuela.

One huge market that it didn't play in is China because they ban any and every movie that has anything to do with the supernatural.

MB, all those other countries you mentioned, was the movie in the native tongue(s) of those countries?

If so, did any of the 2012 orig. cast do the voice-overs?

Thanks,

Patti

It's probably not likely that any of the actors dubbed their own dialogue into different languages. Judging by the foreign trailers, it's most likely that the film was dubbed by other actors in a lot of the non-English speaking European and South American countries, and there were subtitles in the Asian countries.
