I agree with you guys about Diana Millay's delivery of her lines. She had a terrific elocution. She had an arrogance about her that set her apart from anyone she was speaking to.It was kinda soothing to me in a way.She always managed to spellbound me whenever she spoke.I love Diana Millay!!!

Current Talk '04 I / Laura Collins' social worker...
« on: January 13, 2004, 11:38:39 PM »
Hey guys!...while posting on another topic, i thought about just how much I liked the character of Laura Collins and I thought that deep down inside she was just a loving mother wanting her children.(speaking of the 1897 reincarnation of her).

After thinking to myself after a while, I figured I would do a special post in defense of Mrs.Collins..taking on the role of her social worker.

I would like for these postings and your comments to come as sort of a defense for her or either a prosecution against her...Here are a few of my arguments of why Laura should have been granted custody of the Children.

 1) Laura is a good "fiery" lady at heart, even though she may have had "strange" intentions about taking her children away, she loved them still.

 2) She "rescued" Jamison and Nora from that godforsaken school of Trasks'.I couldn't help but root for her when she was doing her best to get them away from there.I know I wouldn't have liked to have been there as a child.

 3) The Collins family ignored Jamison's constant pleas to get them away from that place after Trask locked him in that closet.(abuse and neglect is what i call it-not punishment). Who was there for the kids when they needed to flee the school?...Mommy Dearest..Laura Collins.

 4) Jamison came under posession....chances are if Laura had still been around ...or had been allowed to "take him away" from Collinwood...that would have never happened.

 5) She's pretty. C'mon you guys...you know no matter how much you may have hated her...Diana Millay was at her best when she played Laura. She looked like a life-size barbie doll.

 6) The children simply suffered from neglect at Collinwood. Although, Quentin tried to be there for Jamison when he wasn't sleeping around on Beth.

-Well...those are a few of my arguments in Mrs. Collins' defense ....any prosecutors? ;D

As Mrs. Collins' social worker..I would like to thank those in advance who choose to give arguments for the defense.

Adra ;)

P.S....let's have a little fun with this! >:D

  Hey guys!

VictoriaWintersFan, I would also reccommend you to get the 1897 episodes when they come out also. 1897 was a really suspenceful time at Collinwood, and there was so much going on.There was Quentin and his "issues",family struggles, infidelity, posessions, hitmen,Crazy Jenny, Laura Collins(my fave)...and of course, Barnabas and Angelique's problems...not to mention count Petofi and Aristede....etc.etc. You would love 1897.

 Hello all!

I started watching reruns of Dark Shadows in June 2001 not long after the latest run of the series began. I believe it was somewhere around the Bill Malloy murder mystery. I watched it once, and i wasn't interested. But for some reason, I decided to watch it once more when I heard someone talking about it in a yahoo chatroom. The next time I watched it....Yep....I was hooked!..Had to see it everyday and couldn't miss a minute of it!.....ever since then...it's been Dark Shadows-mania!

Needless to say...2001 was a very good year for me!

 Well...hello there Josette.

I've always liked the 1841 PT Josette Collins better for some reason also. She seems very stern but caring. She also could have been a good matriarch for the Collins family had Flora or Julia had been absent.

Current Talk '03 II / Re:Carrie Stokes
« on: December 20, 2003, 06:46:07 AM »

 Hey there!

Thanks. I must have missed Carrie saying the line that confirmed her adult supervision. Just imagine if she were living in that cottage all by herself. She could have "way cool!" sleepovers.

Just a thought,

 Hey Guys...

Just wondering, Is Carrie Stokes living in the cottage all by herself?..how old is she supposed to be?....does she not have a parent or guardian in Parallel time?

 Hey guys!

I appreciate everyone's comments thus far. It's always cool hearing what others think about certain aspects of the show. I am confused as to what "Joanna's theme" is?...IS it the one that we always heard when Daphne Harridge's ghost appeared in the 1995/pre-1840 storyline?...Is there a website where you can hear specific DS themes?

Current Talk '03 II / 2003 Dark Shadows awards...
« on: December 17, 2003, 12:19:06 AM »
 Hey Guys!

Since DS's run on sci-fi is coming to an end, I figure how about we do something fun and take a walk down memory lane by looking back at this year of Dark Shadow's reruns. What was you best and worst moment?...What made you cringe...what did you notice different(for you all who have watched the series before)?...etc..etc,..here's a few of my categories and my opinions .after reading mine..i would love for you'll to share some of yours.

1) Best edge of your seat moment: Barnabas and Julia travel to 1995 and discover Collinwood in ruins.

2) Most boring time of the show of 2003: The middle part of the Leviathan storyline.

3) Most surprising "change" of 2003: Angelique Rumson

4) Best Actress: Grayson Hall....I've got to give Julia her props...she had a lot on her plate during the Leviathan Storyline...she had to worry about helping Barnabas,Liz,and the others who had become leviathans and help Grant/Quentin remember who he was, along with helping Chris and Sabrina...etc ect...she did a lot..and managed to stay sane!

5) Best supporting actress: Lara Parker as Alexis Stokes....I found LP's performance as Alexis to be extraordinary..she managed to keep the audience  mystified as to whether she was really Angelique or not, up until we "personally" found out.

6) Best Actor: Old Frid of course!

7) Best supporting actor: Christopher Pennock.....he deserves this award after playing two characters in such a short period of time. Not to mention playing characters who had two very different personalities.

8 ) Saddest moment: 1840 when Valerie dies and Barnabas realizes he loved her.

9) Theme stuck in your head: the Playroom theme.

10) Most annoying kid: Michael from the Leviathans storyline.

11) Storyline with the most class: 1970 PT

12) Scariest moment: Julia walks into the playroom in 1995 and Gerard is standing in the shadows glaring at her. or as Thayer David says on the opening voiceover..."a ghost whose mere presence corrupts the surrounding air".

13) Coolest closing background: Episode 1082...with the flashing lights from David's dream.

Anyone have any other awards or nominees for the above catergories??

Thanks for allowing me to share.

 Hey Terry!

I liked the dress myself. She does have some pretty "stand-outish" clothing sometimes.

Current Talk '03 II / Favorite Theme....and a question...
« on: December 07, 2003, 08:13:54 PM »
Hey guys!

I was just sitting here thinking of how my face seems to light up everytime I heard that "Playroom theme" on the show.I must truly say that it was one of my favorite DS themes and I never got tired of hearing it. Also, since the 1995,1970 pre-1840 sotryline occured, I was just getting here into my first year of college. So, I'm sure that years from now and even after I finish college...everytime I watch DS and hear that playroom theme, it will always remind me of when I first started college. Now how's that for memories. Anyone have any similar memories related to DS songs or themes?

Also, does anyone know the name of the theme that is played at the end of DS MPI videotapes...they play it briefly while they advertise how to order more tapes and how to contact the DS fan club. They show shots of the old house and Collinwood.Anyone know the name of it?

Thanks,

Adra

Current Talk '03 II / The lottery..
« on: December 05, 2003, 08:49:56 PM »

Oh my!..

What's this business I hear about a lottery taking place in Collinwood?...This is my first time around seeing the 1841 PT storyline. Is this lottery going to be a major part of this storyline???

Hehe.

I remember my first time around seeing the 1970 Parallel time. When the characters from RT were looking into the room and the first time they showed the portrait of Angelique hanging up.I was shocked!..I didn't know what was going on or the role that Angelique would play in that storyline. I was so excited!
