Empty Coffins On DS
« on: January 20, 2006, 01:05:22 AM »
While watching Ep #1192 for today's slideshow:
1971: Ep #1192 - Samantha and 'Gerard' dig up Joanna's coffin and discover it is empty.
it struck me:
Other than PT Angelique's coffin,
was a coffin ever disinterred on DS that wasn't empty? It's enough to make one wonder why anyone even bothered to spring for the coffin when it was practically a foregone conclusion that it was simply going to remain empty for eternity while its former occupant went about enjoying his/her undead life?  [lghy]
Paul Stoddard, 1970.  He didn't look too upset though.
Man, I thought the same thing when I looked at today's screens--it even reminded me of Jeff Clark (yuck!) exhuming Peter Bradford's coffin in 1968.
But wait...that goofy smiley face was in Paul Stoddard's coffin when Jeb dug it up, right?
Edit:  Magnus, you beat me to it!

Remember folks - an empty coffin means you don't have to pay an actor to occupy it!  Score another point for the DCP budget department!  Seriously,
Even Paul Stoddard's coffin was really empty - They used a still of Dennis Patrick, which looked like it was taken at the moment of a maniacal nervous breakdown!  ;D  I'm sure as Patrick was handed his severence pay, one of TPTB casually said, "oh, by the way Dennis, we need one more thing ...."  Snap!  >:D
I was thinking about this very fact just the other day.  Coffins on DS were almost always empty with very few exceptions!  Unfortunately for Mr. Loomis, he discovered DS' most famous "occupied" coffin.   ;)

That's right -
when Jeb and Megan opened Paul's coffin, he was grinning at them.
How quickly I foget.  [6184]  But then, as I said the other day, I do try to recall as little as possible about the Cheap Insufferable Pig's scenes.  [b003]

so true!

i just watched an episode during the leviathan storyline where julia casually disinterred yet another coffin like it was all in a day's work...and of course it was empty!

where is collinsport law enforcement when all of this is taking place?or at the very least that old caretaker?
isn't this illegal?and laborious?and time consuming?

everyone acts like it's nothing to just dig up graves on a whim. ::)

I'd be really curious to know if Jim Morrison IS dead! That's the only coffin I'd be tempted to open but probably would not if given the chance.

On DS though, I guess the prevelance of vampires and assortment of undead characters in combination with very accessible coffins in secluded Collinwood vaults and private graveyards, makes opening coffins easier than the norm. And people certainly took advantage of it.

I heard about the graffitti. I wonder what killed him? Drug overdose of heroine injected by his girlfriend? A heart problem he didn't know about? I've been reading about Morrison and apparently he spoke often of forging his death and moving to Africa. The whole thing is just too wierd  ???

The only other coffin I can think of that wasn't empty was
the one Barnabas and Chris dug up in the woods that Beth's ghost pointed them to, which held the earthy remains of Quentin's son & the pentagram.
Considering the amount of people actually buried on the Collins' property I wouldn't ever want to do any gardening, dig a hole to plant a seed and AHHHHHH!   [pyth]

No one should ever be surprised at an empty coffin at Collinwood: they never buried anyone more than 10 inches deep......what's THAT to a vengeful corpse?  ::)
