TV's Top 10 Vamp-Tastic Series
« on: September 04, 2008, 08:13:32 PM »
Not surprisingly, DS pops up on Film. com's TV's Top 10 Vamp-Tastic Series. Some of the series that rank higher are, uh, quite surprising, though. (Dracula: The Series at #1??!!  [wow]  And even Buffy/Angel at #10 is bizarre!!  [eek]) However, with the exception of #1, I'm mostly happy to see most of the other series on the list (though Blade: The Series can't compete with the movies) - but I'd definitely rearrange them...

That is, indeed, a very, very odd order. [ghost_blink]

Did a large procession wave their torches as my head fell in the basket,
And was everybody dancing on the casket?

I didn't even know there was a Dracula: The Series...
Of course, DS definitely should have been #1! What's wrong with those people? [ghost_tongue2]

Dark Shadows deserves #1, that's for sure. Don't get me wrong, though I love DS, BtVS will always be my favorite show. A couple episodes of it when I was 11 were what cured me of my immature viewing habits; without Buffy, I'd likely be on a forum discussing Naruto right now instead. But on a list of the top ten, DS, the original vamp series, completely deserves #1.

No harm Goober we all have that special show that is hard to beat even though we watch Dark Shadows. I have my own rules in my universe though and Dark Shadows, Charmed and 90210 tie as my # 1 shows ever!  I decided in my universe number can be 3!!! LOL  Even though Buffy & DS is written better than Charmed and 90210 I have a special love for those two that I cannot even really explain. [ghost_wacko] So don't try to ask me. I think it's the fact that BH 90210 defined my generation as they have said on all the new 90210 show commercials and I followed it from day one until the end. TEN Years is a long time to follow a show.  Man what me and that show went through together.  Dark Shadows same way and Charmed too.  It seemed as if they all hit key points in my life and even had a part in defining who I am today.  Art is amazing isn't it?  Our favorite slayer comes in at number two though. :)

Sorry to get off topic:

I disagree with this list a whole lot!

PS. Sorry for the mistakes as I didn't have enough time to edit. I know it probably would cost more or something but that is one thing I wish we had a longer time to modify posts.

The Preview feature is actually our friend, and with it one can proofread/modify one's post for as long as one wants before actually submitting it. It's the best way to catch mistakes before they're ever made public.  [ghost_wink]

I enjoyed "Forever Knight" and it was a CBS late night show back in the early 90's. Seven years ago, Sci-Fi Channel aired the show every morning about eight years ago. I never seen the very last episode, but I have read they have decided to kill off the character and end the series altogether. He commited suicide by stepping outside in the sun. I have seen the 1st and 2nd season on dvd for sale at Walmart.

I remember "Kindred". I watched the very first episode and it was alright. But I amazed when they decided to cancel the series after that.

Weird list.   [ghost_angry]  So here is mine...  [ghost_wink]

10. Kindred: The Embraced (a few interesting details here and there)
9. Vampire High (only saw parts of some episodes but they looked awesome)
8. Dark Shadows Resurrected
7. True Blood (have seen the pilot and was very impressed)
6. Dracula: The Series (good campy fun, with some very nice touches--plus Mia Kirshner)
5. Buffy the Vampire Slayer (actually quite a different show from its spinoff)
4. Dark Shadows (needs no explanation)
3. Angel (just a superior series about a vampire seeking redemption)
2. Forever Knight (had pretty much every ingredient and used them well)
1. Ultraviolet (really excellent in every way)

Never saw Blood Ties or Blade: The Series nor the BBC The Little Vampire so I cannot judge them.  Moonlight did not interest me, although I tried watching it.

I like Aaron Spelling shows so I have no idea how I missed Kindred: The Embraced possibly since it was cancelled so quickly!

When peeps here wrote of Dracula: The Series - I thought it was referring to the storyline in that 70s series "Cliffhangers" which I LOVED...... [ghost_tongue2]

Perhaps Susan Young gives the misimpression that Kindred only aired one episode, but that's not true. Seven episodes aired. Eight were shot and the unaired one as well as an alternate version of the pilot are available on the DVD. I quite enjoyed the show - though, sadly, Mark Frankel's accidental death brought it to a premature end.  [ghost_sad]

I know it never works on shows when they try to go on after a death.  IE 8 Simple Rules etc....so I guess it's best they didn't continue and try to do it without him.  That is so sad!
