The actual Annabelle is a Raggedy Anne doll kept locked in the Ed (late) and Lorraine Warren Museum.  Do people know that?  And it's "story" (for those who believe it) is far more terrifying.

The Warrens are from my area. They would be in the news every so often whenever some supernatural sighting took place. The biggie was Amityville but there was also a haunted house in Bridgeport that they were supposed to be investigating. This was back in the early 1970's and I've forgotten what the results were.
They had a connection/rivalry with Dr. Stephen Caplan, who was a fixture at the early Newark DS festivals. He was a vampire specialist who believed in the existence of vampires but thought that the Warrens were complete frauds.
I was in my car one day when they were interviewing Caplan on the radio. This was in the 1980's and the interviewer asked how vampires would be affected by the AIDS crisis. Caplan said that it wouldn't affect them at all. Because vampires are in much better health than the general population.

I just about drove my car off the road.

The Warrens ... had a connection/rivalry with Dr. Stephen Caplan, who was a fixture at the early Newark DS festivals. He was a vampire specialist who believed in the existence of vampires but thought that the Warrens were complete frauds.

Well, which of them do most most of us know about and which one of them don't we? And which of them have had hugely successful movies made about their exploits? I'd say the Warrens have had the last laugh on Caplan!  [b003]

I'm a total and complete skeptic, but I attended a lecture by the Warrens back in the early eighties.  I have to say it was fascinating, but as far as I was personally concerned, either there was a logical explanation for what they "experienced," or else they were, shall we say, "exaggerating."  Later in the same decade I was living in Pennsylvania and there was a family claiming demonic attack and the Warrens were involved.  For a couple of weeks, the family got its fifteen minutes of fame with constant reports on the morning local TV news.  The "case" became the basis of the book The Haunted which was turned into a made-for-TV film.

I'm a total and complete skeptic

Spend some time alone inside Seaview Terrace and you might not be.

I've already written a few times about an experience I had there in '99, so I won't bore the people who've already read it by writing the details again. Anyone who has any interest should be able to find at least one of the posts by using the Forum's Advanced Search feature to search the "Calendar Events / Announcements '11 II" board by entering Ghost Hunters in the search window. The topic "Ghost Hunters go to Collinwood!" should come up as one of the results...

You and I need to team up, MB.  Because I'm a skeptic, but I'm also infatuated with the "supernatural," I've participated in some "ghost-busting" experiences.  I've "experienced" some things that need explanation.  I use them as "ghost stories" to scare the kiddies when I've participated on camping outings.  Good ghosts, could I tell stories.  But I was never terrified despite how terrifying they've been.  To me, there's always a logical explanation.  That's why I've participated in ghost-hunting because of it - they want me along to debunk and I've been able to do so in 99% of all "cases."  As for those 1%?  I just haven't found a logical explanation but I know there's one.  I'd keep working on it.  I have on some past ones and succeeded.

I remember the old Ghost Hunters (now defunct) series episode on Seaview/Carey.  It proved nothing.  The only "un-explainable" thing that ever happened on that show was the chair sliding across the floor when they investigated that "haunted" lighthouse.

i hear the warrens were a complete fake and even at some point admitted it. the amityville house is something that never happened. the killing of the family that did as we all know did happen. but the house being evil? that's BS cause there were later people who lived there when nothing happened to them at all.

as for Annabelle i dunno how real that story is to be fair. or how fake..??? but i have the 1st film on blu-ray i did buy it having never seen it. and  i still haven't watched it yet.. but i did see the 2nd film and that was a medicore at best film. it's one of those films where it's got a horrible ending at least i didn't like it. yet... it's also a film where you just watch only once and that's it.   it does not need a 3rd film at all.
