---- ANNOUNCING THE DATES FOR THE 2014 DARK SHADOWS FESTIVAL
The Dark Shadows Festival returns to Tarrytown, NY, for a special event on the 48th anniversary weekend of the premiere of the original series:
The Fest is Saturday, June 28 and Sunday, June 29, 2014.
ABC-TV’s daytime series “Dark Shadows” debuted with Episode # 1 (Victoria Winters arrives in Collinsport) on June 27, 1966.
SG Online Updates and the upcoming SG # 122 print newsletter will announce special guests, activities, and further details, including exciting new features at the historic Lyndhurst Estate, which served as Collinwood in the films "House of Dark Shadows" (1970) and "Night of Dark Shadows" (1971).
Interiors and exteriors of the mansion and outbuildings, the beautiful estate grounds, and the nearby historic Sleepy Hollow Cemetery were used as “Collinwood” and environs in both movies. Cast members of the TV series re-created their TV characters or played new ones. HOUSE and NIGHT are available on DVD and BlluRay in their original theatrical release versions.
SG soon will announce our expected DS guests, special activities, and further details, including exciting new features at the historic estate.

The Tarrytown DoubleTree Hotel is the host hotel for the weekend. It is located a few hundred yards from the entrance to Lyndhurst.

A special Dark Shadows Festival sleeping reduced room rate is available for those who call the hotel and mention the discount code: DSF. The same code – DSF – also may be used to receive the discount rate when making sleeping room reservations online at the Doubletree Tarrytown Hotel website:

LYNDHURST & TARRYTOWN:
Lyndhurst Estate and the DoubleTree Hotel are easily accessible by car and bus via Route 9 North. Lyndhurst is one-half mile south of the Tappan Zee Bridge on Route 9; approximately 24 miles north of midtown Manhattan on the eastern shore of the Hudson River. The mansion can be seen from the northbound lanes of the bridge.
To travel by train, take the Metro North - Hudson Line north to the Tarrytown station. Taxis are available at the station, and it’s about a 5-minute ride to Lyndhurst.
ATTENDING THE 2014 DS FESTIVAL IN TARRYTOWN:
Fest membership rates and other information are not yet available. SG will premiere-announce the specific details as soon as they are set.
You can receive an advance postal-mailing about registration for the 2014 Festival after all details are finalized. Please send a self-addressed, stamped envelope (SASE) to:

The estate is part of the National Trust for Historic Preservation and tours of the mansion will be available to fans. An acclaimed example of “19th century American Gothic Revival style architecture,” it was the elegant home of railroad magnate/Wall Street tycoon Jay Gould, who bought the estate in 1880 and added to it – inside and out. The rooms are filled with original and period furnishings, décor, and art collections. The spacious, open grounds are laid out in a “gardenesque" style, with sloping wide lawns, established trees, and a wide variety of bushes, shrubs, flowers, and other plants.
Sleeping Hollow Cemetery and Washington Irving’s home Sunnyside are within walking distance. From Lyndhurst
