Retro TV Stations: Way to Get DS Back On Air?
« on: January 07, 2009, 03:32:00 AM »
Three local TV stations that I know of, one in Chicago, one in Los Angeles & one here in San Francisco, are now promoting themselves as Retro TV stations, airing shows that had been out of syndication for years!
These stations are what TV Land used to be: they're getting good ratings too!

Might these stations be the key to getting DS back on the air?
Here are their sites:

Chicago:
www.MeTVChicago.com

LA:
www.KDOCTV.net
this station aired DS for 3 years in the '80s

San Francisco:
www.KOFYTV.com
this station aired the second syndicated year at midnight
in 1985.

Let's make this happen & request DS to these and any other staions like them!

First off, here's another topic from 2 - 3 months ago--

Retro TV Stations: A Home For DS?

Bette and I recently met up with the station manager at the KDOC studio.  The subject of their recently canceled morning show came up, and she explained that they'd lost advertisers due to the economy but anticipate an eventual rebound (along with the rest of us!).  DS never came up, but my feeling is that unless Worldvision has made drastic adjustments, DS is most likely too expensive for the channel.

Worldvision has always been a thorn in DS' side.
Since the show has not aired in five years, shouldn't they loosen up a bit?

PS I forgot about the earlier topic, which I started, LOL!

I just traded a few emails with the program director of KOFY TV 20 here in SF: he says he'll look into DS.
I sure hope he does!

This may be incorrect information but I've read that Sci-Fi has the exclusive rights to air DS and just refuses to do so at the present time. I live in Chicago and MeTV changes their line-up with the seasons. Actually they have a sister station called MeToo that could air it as well.  I think it would fit as part of their late-night schedule. They already show The Twilight Zone.

The Sci-Fi Channel's rights to DS expired in 2003.
