The giant bat and the baby planet vied for second place in the race to the top of the stairs, knowing that they could never hope to catch up with ________.

Oh, nice one, arashi!  I threw that set-up out there without the faintest idea of how it could be filled in.  Maybe I should do that more often!

LOL Thanks! The first thing that popped into my head was the posts a while ago about the missing staircase in 1897.
