Thanks, Midnight.  It's been a great day (except for the weather - [snow_wink] it's way too cold for Florida.)

I can't speak about the folks who create the info posts, but the ones who do the shipping make certain I have my packages in one or two days, compelte and not damaged.   [santa_grin]

Okay, here's the scoop on the newly-packaged set--that's what it is: newly-packaged.  The back cover is nearly identical to the previous release, including the same descriptive text, picture and catch-phrase "Be seduced by the darkness."  The AR is listed as 1:78.1, the running time as 592 minutes, in Dolby surround, etc.  It's a 3-disc set (front cover description) just as the previous release was.  Frankly, I'm not even going to open the package, but will send it back to Amazon and get my $32.00 back.

But at least we now know. . .

Okay, now I'm intrigued by all the posts on this DVD set...so--I will order it from Amazon today and let you all know what I find when I watch it.  I already have the first DVD release from a few years ago, but owning earlier versions never stopped me from buying a newer version of other movies or shows--guess I'm obsessive like that, always trying to find the next best thing.  LOL.

« on: December 18, 2009, 04:31:03 AM »
I learned about Conard Fowkes's passing Tuesday morning from my supervisor, who learned the sad news late Monday evening.  Connie (his nickname for those of us who knew him) visited the Orlando Equity office in 1997 to set up the VITA tax program for Central Florida actors; I enjoyed conversations with him the last time I had business in our New York office.  He was a very nice man, though his very candid comments could often leave one feeling quite small--but I have to say, he was always right! And he could be very humorous and had a great laugh.  As Carol says in the article, he will be missed--by all of us.

There is more about Connie on the Equity website:  http://www.actorsequity.org/NewsMedia/news2009/dec16.conardfowkes.asp

For another look at Greystone in a movie (and there are quite a number of scenes feauring the interiors), watch the Bette Davis movie "Dead Ringer."  If you're a "One Life to Live" viewer, you'll also see Phil Carey (Asa) in this film.  And though it's not really DS-like, it's a great thriller in which Bette plays twins (saying any more would result in spoilers).

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MIDNIGHT!!

Fan-f-ing-tastic!!  I laughed at the jokes and parodies and I am amazed at the vocal and facial impressions - of Julia/Grayson especially.  At first I thought this was a lipsync to her voice, but then realized it was the performer.  And the clever use of "showing" the clips on the TV monitor.  Can't wait to see more...

I haven't checked out the youtube vid but--I was there!! in 1971 and remember seeing the last show...the whole last week, in fact.  Of course, I've seen them all again several times on Home Video during the past 20 years or so.  :)

I heard from Keith Prentice (many years ago, of course) that he was supposed to play the "very mod" (read "gay") Gregory in the clothing store - if you don't think he had it in him, check out "The Boys in the Band," if you haven't seen it.  :)

Current Talk '09 I / Re: New MPI DVD storyline compilations
« on: June 26, 2009, 02:10:12 AM »
So are these edited-down versions of the stories to capture the essentials of the story, or are they just 6 - 9 episodes from those storylines?  (Seems like an awful lot of work for little gain to edit the many, many shows from these stories into a 3-hour mini-movie-type story.

I haven't heard this yet, but I would certainly watch GH during Ms. Parker's appearances.  OLTL, my regular show, could use some new "blood" in terms of our DS favorites, too.  I'm sooo tired of the kids' stories.

Fred Olen Ray, in my opinion--which is based on seeing quite a number of films he produced/directed over the past 29 years--is the Roger Corman of --well, of the last 29 years.  Fred Olen Ray makes Dan Curtis look like Robert Wise... ;)

To add my 2 cents:

Angela Lansbury played Elvis Presley's mother (in Blue Hawaii) and Lawrence Harvey's mother (in The Manchurian Candidate).  She was just shy of ten years older than Elvis at the time she played his mother, and just three years older than Harvey when she played his mother.  Not to mention that, on DS, Louis Edmonds was 43 when he debuted as the 36-year-old younger brother of Liz Stoddard.

Great actors can play ALMOST any age, right?

Current Talk '09 I / Re: TV or not TV: A DS Musical
« on: January 21, 2009, 05:19:14 AM »
Considering the somewhat recent vampire musical based on the Lestat mythology (and wasn't there a Dracula musical within the last decade?  -- I don't recall), a DS Broadway musical comedy would die a FAST death.  Only a DS musical stage show that enhances the drama and romance (ala Phantom of the  Opera and Jekyll and Hyde will have any success...and only if written by Broadway pros (of which I am not one, even though I once thought I knew how to approach this concept....LOL.)
