Wonderful! Thanks for sharing. Gosh, his eyes are still as blue as heck, aren't they? He's still good-looking too.
I talked to Mr. Selby a bit at one of the Fests about antique cars, one of his loves. I had a 1973 Dodge Dart that I had restored and it was my every day car. People used to comment on it all the time. I eventually had to break down and buy a 4-wheel drive vehicle for the winter months. But Mr. Selby was impressed, more so with my "wustah" (Worcester, Mass) accent. He's such a nice man.
Thank you for sharing. Nice to see Old Man Selby reminiscing.
I get a kick out of these guys who think they're so clean, when all the time they're trying to cover up their dirt.

Thank you so much! :)  I love David and I sure hope I get to meet him at the fest!
If you like DS and want to have a fun  on a Facebook page that is open to all forms of DS and doesn't allow childish behavior like some groups; come on over to DIAESD! You do have to ask to be invited and I will approve you.

Janet the Wicked, you realize that the author of the books on classic cars is a different David Selby, right?  Amazon and B&N link those book titles to our David Selby, but they're mistaken.

No, I didn't know that. Why is he taking credit for it then? LOL!!!

I'm not aware of David Selby ever trying to take credit for the car book written by the man who shares his name.

If he didn't challenge your assertion that he likes classic cars, it could simply be that he realizes that many fans at DS events are nervous and that this is a once-in-a-lifetime moment for them. Better that he be polite and listen to what they have to say than that he spend those brief moments arguing about what he did or didn't say 40 years ago in 16 Magazine or elsewhere so that a fan walks away with an embarrassing memory of David Selby telling them that they're just plain wrong about something.

That's my take, anyway. I can't speak for him on the subject.
