Let’s assume “delicate” is being used ironically here, given the berserkly grisly nature of past seasons. The 12th installment of the lurid anthology is attracting more attention than usual, with the casting of Kim Kardashian (supplying the series’ requisite jolt of camp) opposite Emma Roberts, who stars as rising film actress Anna Victoria Alcott, whose longing for motherhood (with husband Matt Czuchry) opens the door for terror that’s likely to get many of us racing to rewatch Rosemary’s Baby for comfort. Co-stars include Cara Delevingne, Pose’s Michaela Jaé Rodriguez and Ryan Murphy repertory players Billie Lourd, Denis O’Hare and Leslie Grossman.

I enjoyed it and expect to do the same with the rest of the episodes. It has that creepy, atmospheric AHS look and feel - even scenes in bright, broad daylight give that sense of some doom on its way. As for Kim Kardashian, she's so much not a Kathy Bates, but she's not exactly just a secondary character in a local community play with two flatly delivered lines.

It was enjoyable to watch. One had to pay somewhat close attention to the finale to find out what it was all about. Were there better seasons of AHS? Of course; they're all going to be ranked, just like every plot of DS. Delicate is not classic TV, but that doesn't mean watching it was time not well spent. It was fun; that's all it was intended to be.
