This is sad news.
I am pretty sure he was in a fight with Joe at the Blue Whale.
Joe didn't like him dancing with Carolyn.

Was this a very fake-looking fight, where they just grabbed each other's clothing and acted 'tough'?   Any other DS roles?

That was a big mistake they made, ending the marriage on Rhoda.   TV execs' big theory for a couple years in the mid-70s was that if your show is successful, change it immediately before viewers get tired of it.   They ruined quite a few shows that way, probably.

He sounds like a better actor than the roles he got.   Ron Silver and Rene Auberjonois were regulars on Rhoda too, and I know they were better than those nothing roles, even though it started out as a good show.   Worked with K Hepburn?

Groh didn't have a scene in the Blue Whale.  There's a cast list here (with screen grabs) of Carolyn's early dance partners:

Any other DS roles?

Groh & Roy Scheider in the same week.
When they were at the height of their careers, during my teen years, they were considerably younger than I am now.

We are here but a short while......

OT:

I won't start a separate thread since this isn't DS, but actor Barry Morse, one of my favorites, who played Victor Bergman on Space:1999 and Lt. Gerard on The Fugitive, died a few days ago.   Some fans here may appreciate roles of his.

No need to start a separate thread.  Barry Morse also appeared in Dan Curtis' The Winds of War, so - with so many other fine performers like David Groh - there is another Dark Shadows connection.  RIP to all the greats who have passed away.
