Collinwood Inspired Home Featured In Local Magazine
« on: July 01, 2008, 08:35:15 PM »
[I did a quick search and didn't see this posted on the forum, so I hope this isn't a repeat. If it is, my apologies...]

A Collinwood-inspired home built by a W. PA homebuilder was featured in the Spring 2008 Edition of a local magazine.

Check it out here: http://www.designinghomelifestyles.com/08spring_customhomebuilders.php

The print version of the magazine/article has some awesome full-page photos (I was very tempted to scan and share, but thought it best to post a link to the online version of the article instead.) If you live in the W. PA region, you can pick up a copy of the magazine, "Designing Home Lifestyles," for free at several local grocery stores and businesses. Current and past issues can also be found at their website under the "Archives" section.

Well, now they've got a place to film the Depp/Burton movie!

Nice. Could make for a cool location shoot...

Many years ago, I drew up blueprints for my ideal DS-inspired mansion -- based more on Lyndhurst than Seaview -- but I'll be in my third or fourth reincarnation before I could afford such a thing. Damned thing is, I can't find them anymore. I'm pretty sure I tucked them into a bin and stowed them somewhere in the vault -- but it may be my third or fourth reincarnation before I dig far enough in there to find them again.

Finally, someone built a replica of Seaview Terrace.  This is great.

It's a shame they don't even give a hint of where it's located.  I don't do a lot of extra driving these days!  However, if it's not too far away, it would be fun to drive by.

Well, now they've got a place to film the Depp/Burton movie!

There are a lot of movies being done here these days.  The state recently started tax incentives (which were just up for renewal, I didn't hear how that's come out) and a lot more have been coming recently.  That would be FANTASTIC if they did the movie here!!!!!

Didn't the article say it was in or near Pittsburgh?

That is so cool.  Beautiful.  I just told my mom the other day that would be my dream house and if I hit the lottery I would build it in a minute!!
If you like DS and want to have a fun  on a Facebook page that is open to all forms of DS and doesn't allow childish behavior like some groups; come on over to DIAESD! You do have to ask to be invited and I will approve you.

Me too, I have always dreamed of living in my own Collinwood on the New England Coast somewhere. [ghost_tongue2]
I doubt that the imagination can be suppressed. If you truly eradicated it in a child, he would grow up to be an eggplant.
