Sam Hall on DS DVD
« on: February 23, 2005, 08:13:01 AM »
Hi Cousins,

I just visited Craig Hamrick's website DSonline, and I wondered if anyone could tell me which DVD contains the interview of Sam Hall by Jim Pierson.  Mr. Hall is a bit of a mystery man and I'm curious about the man who helped shape DS into an enduring show.  Can any cousins help me out?  Thanks!

Countess

Set four, disc three at the end.  Here is a link to my dvd guide so you can find the interviews by using your web browser's find feature [contol+F].  There is light plot summaries but not tremendous details.  It helps to find what you might be looking for.

Thanks so much, Victoria.  I loved your website and I will check out the dvd collection.  Thanks again!  The cousins on this board are the nicest people!  Does anyone know what Sam Hall is up to these days?  How about Matt?  Any projects on the horizon for either of the Hall men?

Hey VW  [wavey]

That's a good summary guide to be able to refer to.
I see Selby is interviewed on 4 or 5 of the sets so far.  I was wondering....
Are they all from the same interview, or different ones?  Are they recent, or are there any old interviews, or is it a mix?

They are all different ones.  Perhaps it was one long big one that they broke up.  I'd have to play them all back to back and see if he is wearing the same thing in each one.  So far, no open shirts, drat!

I never saw the MPI videos of 1897 so I don't know if these are the same interviews or new ones.  Perhaps another kind member can come and tell us.

Thanks for your kind words everyone!  I had fun writing it.

luv, victoriawinters

The Selby interviews, thus far, are part of the same interview session. During that session, Selby filmed a television spot for In and Out of the Shadows that aired on SCI-FI in the fall of 1999. There's a screen grab and audio clip of it on my site. Click here.

That would mean that his interviews were done probably around the spring or summer of 1999. (During the early part of that year, he was sporting a mustache and appearing on stage in Connecticut, and he wouldn't have had the first clue about the length or price of the book since he had barely started it.)

Yes, you did.  Your nice neighbor and part-time employee brought them over to watch during the lunch hour, remember?  ;)

Anyway, the MPI videos don't have interviews (at least the Original Series tapes don't).  I remember seeing a Dennis Patrick interview that looked like it was an out-take from the Behind the Scenes 25th Anniversary video (the background where the DVD interview was taking place was the same as in the video.)  I would guess that most of the DVD interviews are leftovers from the 30th and 25th Anniversary videos (at least those interviews with our late actors.)  I don't have the 1897 DVDs so I can't speak for the Selby interviews. Is his hair gray or dark?

We saw lots and lots of Sci-Fi Channel broadcast tapes.  Remember Scare Tactics?  Yuck, I'm having nightmares.   But, I miss our lunch hours....
