Long time no see
« on: April 04, 2005, 02:53:32 AM »
It has been far too long since I last visited.  I hope all the old regulars are still around and doing well.

It's been a while since I've been here so I was wondering if people could maybe answer a few questions I've had recently. For starters what ever happened to Ed and the Halloween DS Fests? Are they still continuing or were they canceled due to the big Fest taking over at Lyndhurst?

Does anyone know if MPI plans on releasing the Collector's Edition series on DVD?

Muchos Gracias. It's fun to be back! Still miss the daily viewings on Sci-Fi :P

Welcome back, arashi!  [hello]  [hello]

It's wonderful to see you here again.  (Love the avatar, BTW.)

MPI has stated that it will release DVDs of the Collector's Series episodes after the Original Series has been transferred to DVD.  So, we still have about two years to go until we see them.

I haven't heard any recent news about the Halloweenathons; in fact I've been told that the url for the site no longer works.  The last word was that Ed was taking 2003 off to go with Diana Millay to Transylvania, but he didn't have an event in 2004 either.  :-   I don't know if he will again, but I'm hoping so.

Hope to see you posting more often!

Hey, I'm proud to be old.  I don't think I'd want to go back and relive my youth.

Welcome back to you Arashi.[sun] [wave]  I visit your web site from time to time.  It always looks great.  One of these days, I'll get around to renting X.  And, what the Prof said.

OMG!  Arashi!  The woman who helped me find the perfect picture of Quentin's mother for my story - which I STILL have and STILL intend to use when the appropriate chapter comes along.

Hey Arashi, great to see you back!  don't be a stranger--come up and see us more often!

A fan who is friends with Ed told me at the Festival last year that Ed's decided to take a break from doing the Halloween get-togethers at the Norwalk mansion (sorry the name of it went right out the remnants of my brain).  Perhaps somebody else will take up the gauntlet, especially since it sounds as if the Dark Shadows Festival committee is officially shutting down as of next year.

I imagine that MPI will release the 1966-67 episodes on disc once they have followed the current cycle down to the end.  You could call their customer service # and inquire about their plans--it would be interesting to know whether they have a plan about this.

Best wishes,

Gothick

Thanks for the answers everyone and thanks for the warm welcome back! That brought a big grin to my face.

I have to say, the DS fandom has always impressed me as being the most friendly and non-elitist out of all the fandoms I have encountered. Rock on everybody!

As for the Halloween parties, I'm working in the office at a huge Civil War era Fort,  Fort Knox, on the coast of Maine, about 40 minutes away from Bar Harbor. My boss has expressed interest in having the Halloween party there. (It is a damn spooky place let me tell you, and haunted. I've had some bizarre things happen while working there and took part in a ghost hunt there one night this past summer).

The area is filled with a ton of captain's houses turned into Bed and Breakfasts (including one in Belfast that looks EXACTLY like the Old House, I kid you not).

Would anyone be interested in coming to Maine to holda party here? I think it would be a blast.

ARASHI!!![/size]
Welcome back!!!!  :)

Tell us more about the Halloween party & if you can, post a pic or two of the B&B; sounds fascinating.

Is there a specific name of the  house(s)?

Great to hear from you!

I'll be wandering back into Belfast soon. I can't remember the name of the house off hand, but I do remember it was for sale the last time I saw it.

If I was rich I would SO buy it and have huge parties there every Halloween.

One can dream!
