The montage on CE/A is from NoDS; with Angelique apparently ready to be hanged.
I can't remember....didn't this take place in 1700s or 1600s? Because, if that's the case, the man (in aforementioned photo) should NOT be wearing a wedding ring!!

The time period is 1810.
Pennock or whoever it was may have just been wearing his own wedding ring. When did the custom of rings become widespread for married folk?

If I remember, for
women
, it was mid-1800s, but
not
necessarily on 4th finger of left hand.
But for men, I don't believe it became common until before late 1950-1960s....

The one wearing the ring was one of the men from the estate who'd "sworn to keep silent forever."
Though while in real life it most probably was the actor's own wedding ring and he probably should have taken it off, there's really nothing in the film that says it has to be a wedding ring. He could be wearing the ring for any number of reasons - especially considering that fact that men wearing wedding bands wasn't yet in practice.
