Merry Christmas to the gang!

We're having a brown Christmas in Kansas City. Just south of us, they have lots of snow. I never think the outoor Christmas decorations look right without snow, but I hate driving in the stuff.

I've been going to parties and celebrating since Sunday and have one more dinner tonight. Whew. Good thing this only happens once a year.

Everytime I see Magda, I think of an "I Love Lucy" episode.  In my head, I hear Lucy singing " I am Queen of the Gypsies, the Gyp, Gyp, Gyp, Gypsy, Gypsies".

This totally cracked me up! I got a visual on it too. LMAO!
;D

Except for Beth, he never did pick a good choice of women!

Angelique would have been a good match for him, don't ya think?

I'm with Connie(good company) only not believing that quentin would have anything to do with her!!

I think it was nothing serious to Quentin, he was just doing it to Edward to show he could. You don't run off to Egypt and leave the person if you care about them. He may have been running from her!

talk about an image carved from wood...her face barely moves, and when she does show some sort of expression, it's expressionless.  Almost like her skin is too tight or something.

As Dorothy Parker says, "She runs the gamut of emotions from A to B."

I cannot beLIEVE that Quentin was involved with her.  He must have been drunk most of the time or something.  LOL

My theory on that is Quentin was just showing Edward he could get her if he wanted her. "You think she's yours, huh, Edward?" I'm sure he enjoyed taking Edward's wife to bed and laughing at him behind his back. Laura followed Quentin to Egypt, he didn't take her with him. Her comments to him all indicate he dumped her there. Burn, baby, burn.

It gets more confusing as you go back into the years to try to trace her history.

It certainly does. I can't help thinking the writers hadn't really thought this through, evidenced by the conflicting child issue. Maybe they thought we wouldn't notice.

Quote
during this storyline and the last Laura Phoenix story she is constantly saying that she has "little time."

That's confusing too. I'm not sure if she has a hundred years for each life *or* if she can die like any mortal, (so she has to be careful) but then she cannot return until the hundred year mark has came around.

I am also not sure if she needs to offer up a sacrifice to stay alive and that's what she intends to do with her children.  It's all pretty damn mysterious.

It is my impression Laura was indicating it had been so long since she was that particular Laura Stockbridge, to once again be within her ghostly remains or inner spirit  so to speak.... she had not had those feelings in a very long time.

I see. So she was thinking back to 100 years ago, remembering that life. From her reaction, it was one of her better ones. Thanks for your input!

I think someone has my portrait and is making me do these strange things.

Hey, just burn it in the fireplace and you'll feel better in no time...  ;)

I'd just assumed that it had been "so long" since 1785 when Laura had been alive to have her portrait painted.

And you think she was having a good flashback to the artist who painted her?  Or just reminiscing about those good old days in the 1700's?

When her portrait burned she could feel the flames. It had "been so long"since she'd burned.

This is where my confusion comes in. I thought she burned in Alexandria. Is there a difference between Laura and the Phoenix burning? Which one burned in Alexandria?

So the portrait burning is having a kind of healing or beneficial effect on her.

I think I understand what you're saying. It was warming the cockles of her heart? Kinda like the difference between warming your hands by the fire and putting them into the fire. It was warmth she felt by portrait proxy and she hadn't felt "warm" for soooo long.

We've got too many people casting spells (VERY nice incantation today Barney!)

That'll do Barn, that'll do. (laughs) Ok, you won't get it if you haven't seen Babe. But I swear, when Barnabas was ramming away (so to speak) I kept thinking:

Baa-ram-ewe, baa-ram-ewe. To your breed, your fleece, your clan be true. Sheep be true. Baa-ram-ewe.

Somebody please tell Roger Davis he can't do a British accent, (what the HELL was that voice over?)

Maybe Laura just has hot pants. ;)

It seemed she was having a private moment there, I'm telling ya... I wondered for a brief minute if Magda was goosing her or something.

Whatever it was, as the lady said in When Harry Met Sally,:

" I'll have whatever she's having"

"It's been sooooo long!"

Since what????

Ok, am I missing the obvious here? I was following the
whole routine between Laura and Barnabas about the
picture, and I thought she wanted Magda to burn it
because she didn't want anyone to see it and give away
the fact that it really was a portrait of her done a hundred years ago.

Am I ok so far?

Then, when she goes into the Herbal Essence routine
purring, "It's been so long, it's been so long," I had
no idea what was going on! So long since WHAT????

Since the last time she had her picture burned?

Since she saw herself in that dress?

Since a guy said he wouldn't let her get lonely?

Since Dark Shadows was on?

What was that all about?

Can I buy a clue from you guys?
