It's sort of like
Dead Poets Society on a boat, and Selby gets to play the a-hole father who manages to make life a living hell for everyone around him. If you want to see him play a character that has absolutely no redeeming qualities whatsoever, this would be the film to watch. Some of the reviews actually singled Selby out for playing the part with too much relish. He's not in a lot of it, but his character does tend to drive along portions of the plot. An earlier draft of the script floating around on the Internet had his character playing a much more prominent role in the proceedings at the end of the film (trying not to give anything away here), but the film doesn't include any of that. No idea whether the scenes were shot and scrapped or dropped prior to filming. I doubt Mr. Evil Parent himself would even remember.
