Halloween Theme(s)
« on: September 30, 2007, 07:12:37 PM »
As if anyone could miss it, the forum has switched over to a Halloween theme which was originally put together back in 2005 by SMF member Bloc for his own forum (I've just added a few small tweaks here and there to make it more compatible with our forum), and it is now the default theme. Mystic Night, the previous default theme, has vanished into that mystic night. It may or may not return, depending on whether or not I can finally find the time to upgrade our older themes for SMF 1.1.4.

In addition to this HalloweenNight theme, a theme entitle Web will be introduced later today (as soon as I finish tweaking it) for anyone who might like to try that Halloween theme instead.  [hall2_smiley]

And, of course, anyone who hasn't gotten into the spirit of Halloween yet is certainly free to choose any of the other available themes. Though any DS fan who doesn't want to enjoy the Halloween season for as long as possible, well, what can actually be said about such a person?  [hall2_rolleyes]  [hall2_grin]

I've just noticed that the HalloweenNight theme looks best with a monitor resolution of 1024X768 or above. It will still work with 800X600, but the text will be very large and some of the background graphics in the header will display incorrectly (though I'll try to see if I can adjust that). However, people who are afraid that setting their monitors to 1024X768 (which, as I've said before, has really become the defacto default resolution these days with more and more Web sites expecting it) need not worry that the text will be too small to read because it's still really quite large. Larger, in fact, than Mystic Night was...

The Web theme is now is place and it seems to work well with all resolutions. To try it out, follow the steps laid out in this topic:
Choosing A Theme
and substituing "Web" for "Variations on Blue".  [hall2_wink]

Also, HalloweenNight should now display correctly in all browsers.  [hall2_smiley]

Enjoy!

I'm sure it will look great when I take my accessibility features off so I can see it.... I miss the big scary special emoticons though, the skull with the candle on it, etc..

Oh, they're coming. It's only that I haven't gotten a chance to bring them back yet.  [hall2_smiley]
